We know that vandalism and destruction of others’ property is common on Halloween night.
We have read in the news of graves being over-turned and desecrated.
We hear of poisoned candy, being dispensed to children.

Despite that…Americans sure do take Halloween seriously…spending $21 million on Halloween candies every year.

For instance, I started one on President Bush’s new fence bill – the one that has no funding – and it was hard for me to work up any outrage, since I wasn’t surprised at such an empty gesture.

Remember the six feet of snow Buffalo received in the week between Christmas and New Year’s a few years ago? That storm was fueled by unusually warm water in Lake Erie. Now again cold winds blow across a warm lake, and we are hit by an unprecedented freakish snowstorm. …

Was this Mother Nature’s dark side or something we brought on ourselves?

What if there was a connection between this awful snowstorm and global climate change – and thus with all the fossil fuels we burn and carbon dioxide we are releasing into the atmosphere?

If y’all will indulge me, I will share one of the many things I came away with……..(no, I won’t give away the whole dang plot like the reviews do..lol……

I’ve eluded to a lost friendship that has been hurting me as of late.
Caring and showing love to someone who does not display in return can be agonizing.

But the movie reminded me of something my soul knew all along, but my pain made me forget.

True friendship involves action.
Doing something for someone else, not just “feeling” something.

And as strange as it may sound……..It also involves “relationship.” In my esteem, this translates as an investment in each other’s spiritual growth, no matter how painful the honesty of our flaws of character may be to our vanity.

And while many pay lip service to this……the support remains constant………even during times of struggle, perhaps even more so then.

At one time or another I daresay most of us may have cared for someone and not had our feelings returned or did not hear words we sorely needed to hear or did not witness actions we so longed for.

Perhaps that someone may not be capable or interested in putting forth the effort to extend true friendship…….but that is their journey…not mine.
