Dips OpenTrackback Weekend..yum.

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Ask any Israeli to point out one thing that embodies ‘Israeliness’. Chances are nine out 10 will say ‘hummus’. What is it about that pale chickpea paste that is eaten everywhere, anytime, that evokes passionate discussions and fan clubs and embodies Israel?
Land of hummus and pita

In any case, chickpeas were prepared and eaten in many different forms thousands of years ago in Asia and the Fertile Crescent region, the Mediterranean and ancient Egypt. The pale spread is only one of the many dishes based on this wonderful legume.

Hummus with pita bread and veggies…..mmmmmmmmm.

What is it y’all say?

Ah…….it’s a creamy puree of chickpeas and tahini, which is sesame seed paste.. seasoned with lemon juice, spices and garlic.

You may want to try some falafel which happens to be the second most common dish made of chickpeas.

Middle Easterners just luv thier chickpeas. Both chickpeas and sesame seeds are incredibly healthy so hummus is a nutritionist’s dream come true.

salsa-dip-small.jpg

Chickpeas are a great source of protein, potassium and fiber. Sesame seeds are a source of protein, along with vitamin E, which we know is a powerful antioxidant. Combine them together into hummus, and you’ve got one healthy dip!

hum-mus-small1.jpg

Don’t feel much like making it yourself?..You can buy it in the deli section of most grocery stores.

Trust me ..it’s yum. foodaniuddy.gif

UK Boycotts Israel…Hmmm…

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

england3.gif

Britain’s University and College Union (UCU), comprising of university academics, voted in favor of considering a boycott of Israeli academics and institutions at its conference in Bournemouth on Thursday evening.

UK lecturers support Israel boycott call

The resolution, passed by 158 votes in favor and 99 against, “notes that Israel’s 40-year occupation has seriously damaged the fabric of Pal-estinian society through annexation, illegal settlement, collective punishment and restriction of movement… deplores the denial of educational rights for Pale-stinians by invasions, closures, checkpoints, curfews, and shootings and arrests of teachers, lecturers and students.”

england-flag-small.jpg

OK. I move to ban British professors from the U.S. due to their obvious anti semitism.

england-city-ca-small.jpg
How’s that for starters?

Aw, don’t fret y’all……I am quite certain that imminently we will hear these Whackademics initiating a boycott of Lebneze universities because of the shelling of “Pale-stinian” refugee camps right?

And no doubt a boycott of the following countries will follow.

Lebnon, Sy-ria ,Sa-udi Ara-bia, Cuba, Venuzuela, China …hmm..did I leave any out?

Oh yea and if .. Britain’s University and College Union Whackademics object to “annexation, illegal settlement, collective punishment and restriction of movement” why aren’t they boycotting Sudan?

su-dan-baby-small.jpg

If they’re so disturbed by ahem…cough cough… “invasions, closures, checkpoints, curfews, and shootings and arrests of teachers, lecturers and students”, why aren’t they boycotting Iran?

i-ran-small-hang1.jpg

Oh. wait. That wouldn’t be against Jooooooooz. My bad.

not-amusedani.gif

In case y’all didn’t know… England was the first European country to expel its entire Jewish population in the 13th century. Hmmm.
betterani-ddy.gif
England expels all Jews

Hey.
Let’s start a boycott of all Pales-tinian academics. Oh, my bad again. There aren’t any worthy of mention. Ooops. facees16.gif

Regarding “educational rights,” there were no universities in Pale-stine until Israel founded them following the Six-Day War.

None. Notta one.
Incidentally, Israel still allows them to operate despite the fact that they are terror-training and recruitment centers to this day. Go figure.

The EU, UN, America and the rest of the world continues to compel Israel to appease while ignoring all the persecutors and terrorists of the entire world.

Egypt permitted thousands of weapons tunnels dug from their country to Gaza which ultimately caused the slaughter of innocent Jews.

But hey, they’re “a good ally”. With “allies” like that, who needs……..well you get my drift.

Sy-ria is one big state-sponsored terror hole.
Ir-an can just continue with their Hitleresqe threats and actions.

An unending flow of American and European money continues to be shelled out to the “Pallys”..Ham-ASS and FAT-ah, known terrorists. money1.gif

I hear tell……The new democracy of Ir-aq is not recognizing Israel for mercys sake.

Any boycotts over that?

Then again my sweet friends………..
There’s always this:

SAM LEVINSON’S ANSWER TO AN ANTI-SEMITE:

“It’s a free world; you don’t have to like Jews, but if you don’t, I suggest that you boycott certain Jewish products, like the Wasserman test for syphilis; digitalis, discovered by a Dr. Nuslin; insulin, discovered by Dr. Minofsky; chloral hydrate for convulsions, discovered by Dr. Lifreich; the Schick test for diptheria; vitamins, discovered by Dr. Funk; steptomycin, discovered by Dr. Z. Woronan, the polio pill by Dr. A. Sabin and the polio vaccine by Dr. Jonas Salk.

Go on, boycott! Humanitarian consistency requires that my people offer all these gifts to all people of the world. Fanatic consistency requires that all bigots accept syphilis, diabetes, convulsions, malnutrition, infantile paralysis and turberculosis as a matter of principle.

“You want to be mad? Be mad! But I’m telling you, you ain’t going to feel so good!”

Brian Morganstern: Yes IndeeD

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. – When he first saw the video of the men shooting rifles and chanting, store clerk Brian Morganstern says he was concerned, but he wasn’t sure if he should call police.

.. On the video, he saw 10 men at a firing range with handguns, rifles and what he thought were automatic weapons. Authorities said they were chanting in Arabic, “Al-lah Ak-bar,” or “God is Great.”

Morganstern said he went home that night and told his family about the video. The next day, he called police, he told CNN Tuesday in his first media interview.

Man who tipped off authorities about alleged Fort Dix plot: ’I don’t feel like a hero’

The suspects are all foreign-born men in their 20s who had spent many years living in Philadelphia’s New Jersey suburbs. Five are charged with conspiring to kill military personnel and could face life in prison. The sixth faces up to 10 years in prison if he is convicted of weapons charges.

Yes!
And if the jeeeeeeehadis and CA-IR don’t like being ratted out by “ordinary citizens”..guess what.
They can cry me a Tigris river.

babycry.gif

Truthfully my sweet friends, it is problematical to decide whom to loathe more, the irate, teeth gnashing cavemen raging in our streets shouting All–ah Ak–bar, hating us and plotting to kill us while living here and benefiting from our system, rights, and liberties or the Lefty Lib clowns amongst us who accept this barbarity, turn around and blame us for this perpetual seething machine, and try to brainwash us that somehow having these jeeeeeeehadies in our communities strengthens us through ” multi culti-diversity.”

Do not lose heart.

America is the world’s Superpower, whether the ingrate kool aid drinkers want to admit it or not.

No other nation or group of nations can challenge us militarily or economically. Most especially when we have citizens like this.

Brian Morganstern was asked:
You’re being hailed as a hero. How do you feel about that?

This was his response:
I don’t feel like a hero, to be honest with you. I feel like I did the right thing. But the real heroes are our men and women overseas, and the people in our law enforcement who handled this situation.

I don’t know bout y’all…but that sure sounds like “hero” to me.

Brian personifies the true American Spirit that perhaps our enemies, consumed with perpetual rage, have slightly underestimated.

Knowing the R.o.P……pray for this young hero’s safety.
God speed Brian…oh and………

Booyah!!

Christian?..Get outta Mec-ca!

Monday, May 28th, 2007

Sau-di officials have arrested a man in Mec-ca for being a Christian, saying that the city, which Mus–lims consider to be holy, is off-limits to non-Mus-lims.

Saudis arrest Christian for entering Mecca

Similar restrictions apply to the Sa-udi city of Med-ina. In a section entitled, “Traveler’s Information,” the Web site of the Sau-di Embassy in Washington states that, “Mec-ca and Me-dina hold special religious significance and only persons of the Is-lamic faith are allowed entry.”

muz-saudi-camels.jpg

Highway signs at the entrance to Mec-ca also direct non-Muslims away from the city’s environs.

Mec-ca :The Apartheid City

muz-woman-4.jpg

Of course if the Christians and Jews..aka..apes and pigs would just stay the h__ outta their holy sites and cities eh…

church_pews.jpg

Good God, what a gallery of ghouls.

me-dina-small.jpg

Wonder what the PC-enthralled Euroweanie bureaucratic leaders have to say bout this.

And…If all those pesky Israelis would just shrivel up or go away, attacks on innocent citizens in Sderot would be like..um.. zero.

Muzlims don’t have to differentiate between terrorist attacks on civilians and attacks against an occupying military force any more than they have to accept that Muzlims are not barred from St.Patricks Cathedral or Jewish holy places in Jerusalem.
Oh. and by the by….Jerusalem has been the capital of the Jewish people for some three thousand years.

That.um…. includes a millenium and a half before Muu-ham-med was even born.

But those Libs and Jeeeeeeeehad enablers jus luv the word “occupation”.
So what if it has virtually nothing to do with Israel’s security over her own capital city.

There are nearly two dozen A-rab states, with almost two dozen capital cities.

There is only one Jewish state, and only one Jewish capital city in the Universe. Have you ever seen the width and breath of it?

um..Ca you even find it?

But we know the mantra of the A-rabs don’t we: What’s mine is mine and what’s yours is mine too.

Tossing Christians out of Mecca and Medina…for err…being “Christian” of course. Courtesy the R.o.P. They’re just like the Amish, don’t you see?
Peace eh. face62.gif
Just keeping up with Muzlims’ “peace” is wearin me out.

Lesse…maybe the kassams are really Rockets of Peace, and the suicide/homicide bombers are using Bombs of Peace, and the terrorists are firing Bullets of Peace too huh.

killani.gif

No Christians in Mecc-a.
Perhaps it’s time to disallow Muzlims from the Vatican City.
Or any city for that matter….that has a Church or Synagogue.

Oh..wait…that would be Izzzlamophobia right?
And we musn’t have that..because then The religion of perpetual outrage will be forced to show its thin skin once again..and we all know what H–LL breaks loose when that happens eh.

Keep the peace.
Keep the peace good lil dhimmis. hit-mey113.gif

Because nuthin’ says peace like barring Christians from an entire city simply for NOT being Muzlim eh.

Height OpenTrackback Weekend

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

Judged by the height of the doorframes he built, medieval man was assumed to be vertically challenged.

But after examining the bones of those who lived in the Middle Ages, scientists have discovered a much bigger truth.

Evidence gathered from 3,000 skeletons reveals that human height has varied little over the past 1,000 years.

From the 10th century through to the 19th, the average height of adult men was 5ft 7in or 170cm – just 2in below today’s average.

Our medieval ancestors were just as tall as us says a new study

Women were an average of 5ft 2in or 158cm – just over an inch shorter than today.

Ah. Height.
Is it just another measurement?

Being “petite” myself..I remember hearing this quite a bit in school.
“Line up kids from shortest to tallest!” Hmmmmmm.
Guess who was always first in line. Heh.
shortani-dy.gif

HappY Shavuot!

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

Shavuot, which means “weeks”, is one of three Pilgrim Festivals..along with Passover and Sukkot… in the Jewish calendar.

It celebrates the giving of the Bible (and Ten Commandments), the foundation of Jewish law.

Originally, Shavuot was a time of bringing the first fruits of harvest to Jerusalem.
This was meant as a show of gratitude and thanks.

shavuot-ca6.jpg

Special customs include the reading of the Book of Ruth, which serves to remind us that we too can find a continual source of blessing in our tradition.

A lil reminder never hurt, did it sweet friends? mail044.gif

Another tradition includes staying up all night long to study the Bible, which indicates that we are always ready and awake to receive the teachings of the Bible.

That’s right…allllllllllllll night…no nyquil..no NO Doz..Heh. sleepani1.gif

There exists a stunning custom of decorating the synagogue with flowers and greens, because of the vegetation on Mt. Sinai, where the Bible was given.

Traditionally, dairy dishes are served…cheese cake, cheese blintzes,(crepes)..mmmmmmmm…… to symbolize the sweetness of the Bible, as well as Israel: the “land of milk and honey”.

Dang, Jews sure know how to eat…can u say yummmmmmmmmmmm?

cheesecake1.jpg

cheese-blintzes2.jpg

cheese-blintzes1.jpg

Some mystics believe that at midnight the heavens open and favorably receive the study, and prayers of those who remain awake all night on the anniversary of the Revelation.

Legend has it that wishes are fulfilled at that moment.

Moroccan Jews actually believed that staying up all night guaranteed you life for the next year.

Sooo..Happy Shavuot to those celebrating!………and prayers for redemption and peace for all of us.

If your day began in chaos, then finish it with tranquility and peace. Stop, pray and …….hey…….enjoy your day.

I will make my rounds to see y’all soon as I get a few seconds to squeeze together. angel.gif

firj16.gif

One of the first signs of aging that many baby boomers experience is memory loss, forgetting things such as people’s names, where they left the keys, or why they walked into a room.

When “Senior Moments” Begin

Such incidents are frequently joked about as “senior moments,” but people who notice that they aren’t as sharp as they once were, are often concerned that the problem may be the beginning of something serious.

forget-hand-string.jpg

“If you can, you want to get 30 minutes every day of aerobic exercise or catch up with an hour every other day” to help head off such memory loss, he suggested. “You have to pump the blood into your brain. You have to give the brain a chance to relax. Whatever natural hormones you’re taking or nutrients like calcium and vitamin D, you need more nutrition. We have something called the rainbow diet where you have spices and herbal teas. They all feed the brain.

Your brain can actually get younger and sharper at 50. You can actually reach a new peak.”

forget-ca-cute-small.jpg

Here I am..Angel to the rescue.

Wait..what was I sayin..oh yea. Memory memory.

forget-ca-cute-small1.jpg

My fam is forever ribbin me because I can’t remember squat.confused1.gif
So………….

Here are a few techniques I’ve stumbled across in my effort to remember people’s names at dance class or the 17th cell phone number in my memory.

forget-dude-ca-small.jpg

1-Associations.
Got a list?..Can’t seem to remember.
Make simple associations between items on yer list, and wala!

(Make sure the images are vivid..and if you can’t conjure up a vivid image for that word..use a similar word instead.)

Example:
You want to remember a shopping list you need to bring to your sisters later that evening.
Carrots, milk, honey, chocolate, chocolate..o.k. nuff chocolate,,heh..and red onions.

Here’s my “association” image.
A redhead kid (“Carrot-Top”) boy-red25.jpgcarrots-lil.jpg fell and knocked over a carton of milk.milk02.gif
The milk spilled and led a trail to the jar of honey which was on the table…honey-lil.jpg next to 10 bars of chocolate.chocolate-lil1.jpg
Your sister burst in the door dropping an entire case of red onions…onions-lil.jpg….at which point all y’all burst out laughing. laff1.gif

Sooooooooooo..try it.
G’head.
Make a list and use that vivid imagination to make silly associations.
The sillier, the better.

How’d ya do?

2-Tell yourself a Story.
This method is similar to the one above but always use a story rather than just random associations. Embellish!

3-Names of People….argg..my nemesis!

Study the person’s face very closely but discretely heh.. when you are introduced to them.
Now to find an unusual feature, (yes, everyone has one )eyes, ears, forehead, eyebrows, nose, mouth, chin..well you get the idea.

Now for the fun part.
Create an association between that unique characteristic, the face, and the person’s name in your mind.

You can use an association of someone else you know with the same name, or a rhyme, or a memorable image in your mind of the name with the person’s face. Be creative. skifallani.gif
You can set their hair on fire…oops..ok something a tad calmer…give them huge hoop earrings. girlkge74.gif

Go for it.

Oh, and one thing I was told years ago.
Notice how car salesmen seem to remember your name. Know why?
It’s called repetition. They say it over and over and over……..
Angel, don’t you think you’d look spiffy behind the wheel of this Porsche..what do you think Angel…ha greenani.gif

car18-thumb.jpg

So, all y’all…hows your memory?
Psst….do ya remember the question?
