Some 84 movie stars, film industry members sign statement condemning Hiz-bullah, Ha-mas activities in Middle East.
Hollywood stars blast Nasrallah continues..
Heads of the film industry in Hollywood and prominent movie stars have signed a statement blaming Ham-as and Hiz-bullah for terror activities in the Middle East, the war in Lebanon, and for harming innocents..
Among the signatories: Sylvester Stallone, James Woods, Bruce Willis, director Ridley Scott, tennis player Serena Williams, Nicole Kidman,
Michael Douglas, Dennis Hopper, William Hurt, Josh Malina, Kelly Preston, Danny DeVito, Don Johnson, and media tycoon Rupert Murdock…Actor Adam Sandler was present at one of the many briefings the consul general gave this week. At the end of the briefing, Sandler announced that he would personally donate USD 100,000 to the children of the north and south, and about 400 Playstation games purchased by the actor are expected to be transferred to the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem in the coming days.”
I know. I know. It’s Hollywood, who cares?
But hold on a minute sweet friends.
Hollywood’s obviously a lefty town but enmeshed with politics nonetheless.
Hollywood’s politics-publicity balancing act
“Check out the glitterati who have shown up at congressional hearings recently: Julia Roberts. Christie Brinkley. Michael J. Fox. Muhammad Ali. And now Kevin Richardson of the pop group Backstreet Boys…
Political analysts agree there’s a fine line between celebrities with legitimate expertise and those who have been invited before Congress just to draw media attention.
“If they get a celebrity in there, the cameras will follow and what might have been a hidden or invisible issue will suddenly become a matter of public discussion.”
..it’s a major change from the 1950s, when Hollywood stars were summoned to Capitol Hill to testify in the anti-communist hearings.“Now, they come as honored guests and are sought out eagerly.”
Yes, it it stunning to realize that some may actual take their political cues from the likes of Angelina Jolie, Sean Penn, or Susan Sarandon.
Most of us can barely abide the constant blathering idiocy spewing from a number of Hollywood talking heads, let alone take them seriously.
Yet we can not deny the connection nor the influence of Hollywood, for better or worse eh?
“The great quest in Hollywood is a good story, and there are few better stories than the unpredictability and dazzle and the glamour of politics,” says Valenti. “There is this mutual attraction and, as matter of fact, I think politicians and movie stars are sprung from the same DNA. They’re attracted to publicity, they’re always on stage, mostly reading from scripts written by somebody else.”
-Jack Valenti
Just think of the equivalence of “entertainment” in Muzzieland.
You got your cartoons on Al-Manar where the vile, sinister stereotype of a rabbi uses the blood of pious Muzlim children for his Passover matzah. Oh yes…quite entertaining eh?
And yes, “Paradise Now” a movie praising suicide bombers who murder Jews, did win the ahem..cough cough “prestigious” Golden Globe and was even nominated for an Oscar. So much for Hollywood. ![]()
Despite that, I applaud the actors, actresses and directors who stepped foward.
Better late than never guys and dolls.
Nice knowing that Hollywood isn’t entirely as rabidly anti-America as some of us believed.
Oh, by the way..anyone see the following names on the signed statement?
Spielberg? Streisand? Woody Allen? Michael Moore?…Hmmm.
Maybe they ran outta ink eh?

I loved the article and I am just head over heals for Nicole Kidman. I asked my wife, in light of this news, if I could have a crush on her (she, like me, are very anti-Hollywood-liberals). She said okay. Now if I could only convince Nicole!

These are the usual suspects that are a bit more conservative in their views. Probably because they are the ones that actually know what grey matter is suppose to be used for.

“Maybe they ran outta ink eh?”
More likely, they ran out of brains.
Good for those who blamed the terrorists and did so publicaly.

Although, I would caution us not to easily accept those individuals with our same views, and throw out those that do not have our views, I am glad to see more convervative views appearing in Hollywood.
Now if only Hollywood produce some decent different movies, rather than the same scenario over and over and over ……..
Perhaps Stan Lee with the Marvel movies will save their bank.

well said Angel…
Bruce Willis and Dennis Hopper are actually considered Conservative…
at least Mr. Hopper we know votes Republican, after admitting to being misguided years ago…
thanks for the link, and best wishes…

Common sense in Hollywood, who would have thought it? I was glad to see James Woods on the list, especially considering his pre 9/11 experience with the hijackers. Maybe things are starting to even out, afterall. Great post!

Hollywood Supports America?…
Too bad they had to pay for an ad though. If they had been rallying in support of hezbollah and burning American or Israeli flags, theyd have gotten wall-to-wall coverage for free. But they can probably afford to break free of a few bucks for the Re….

It was pretty shocking that they’d admit the terrorists were the bad guys. But maybe this week they’ll sign a document blaming America for creating Hezbollah to make up for it.

It’s about time.
Dennis Prager yesterday talked about how this distinguishes “decent” Hollywood from the indecent Hollywood liberals.
