July 4th..Woot!
The Fourth of July . WOW..What a perfect opportunity to think about the principles that were the foundation of this country.
Our first president Ole George….. was sworn into office with his hand on an open Bible. At the conclusion of his oath…………
he closed his eyes and said, in a prayerful voice, “So help me God.” As he uttered those words he kissed the Bible.
“So help me God.”
Once upon a time it was nearly universally acknowledged that our precious country was founded by religious men whose values were grounded in the Jewish and Christian Scriptures.
Now..alla sudden we’re told by the Libs: No crosses on a county or city seal, no more “Merry Christmas” and the Supreme Court’s rulings against school prayer even when it’s of the most non-denominational type.
In 1963 a decision by the U.S. Supreme Court removed devotional Bible reading from the schools.
That, however, did not mean that it should have been removed from literature and history.
Now that the Muzlim population is ever expanding, schools can hardly wait to inculcate kids with knowledge of “other faiths”, allegedly promoting pluralism and tolerance.
Universal compassion is just spiffy my friends but recall this Fourth of July:
We are clearly not all on the same path to the same God.
Religions (or so called religions) are not identical or equivalent. They solve problems in quite different ways, and clearly their goals can be poles apart.
So, my sweet friends, this year…add some of your Faith to your Fourth.
Pray, read your favorite Chapter and Verse.
Invite God to the barbeque.
It is easy to take liberty for granted, when you have never had it taken from you.

I’ll say!
Alright. Time for some FOOD!
Here are some pointers or ideas that you may freely steal.
Angel’s “Red White and Blue.”
Fruit Cups: Yum.
1 pint strawberries
1 pint blueberries
1 pint fresh blackberries (if you like ‘em)
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 pint heavy whipping cream
Slice up those fresh strawberries and combine in a bowl with blue and/or blackberries. Phew. OK..That was the hardest part.
Sprinkle those yummy berries with two teaspoons of sugar.
Whip cream until soft peaks form and then sweeten with the remaining sugar.
Serve the colorful berries in purdy cups with “very” generous spoonfuls of fresh whipped cream. Mmmmmmmm.
Alright. By a show of hands……who tried these?
How bout these?
Ya don’t need to be Martha Stewart to try these..Heck- Go for it.
For the fellas. Heh.
For the girls. woot!
You have to love a nation that celebrates its Independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.

I was able to leave work early this Friday before the 4th of July.
Not from a jump on the Holiday, but, running for home before the water rising above the roadways. As the wiper blades flip/flapping back and forth set on High Speed, barely moving the water so as to get a glimpse of the roadway and or the car in front, we were moving at a good rate of 35mph, was almost exhausting by the time it took to pull into the familiar drive of the ol homestead. Hurricane Alex seems to be hitting Houston with it’s wide rain bands; swirling around, all the way, east of Houston. Streets have 2 to 3 ft. water before 3:00 pm.
The local news had video of a guy on a jetski running up and down the frwy.
Good news though it is suppose to stop tomorrow – not totally stop but slow to an easy rain, with light rain–as to not stop us here from having a goood 4th.
All things considered, Have a 4th to remember.

On this Independence Day, let’s pledge to fight to ensure this is not our last. There are forces actively and successfully working to crush our liberty.
Prepare.

Hear, hear! In fact, I’m sick and tired of hearing that tripe. If all paths lead to God, then why bother to follow any religion at all? Sheesh.
Love that Erma Bombeck quote:
