A 19-year-old man was sentenced to two years in prison in 2005 for the attack.”

Hate crimes are a two edge sword and they can be used to intimidate and censor the good guys. I say that we are better off without them on the books. However, nothing is stopping a judge from viewing the circumstances of a regular crime and maxing out the sentence he/she gives.

the only time it is a hate crime is when some white redneck beats up on the black dude who tries to rob him. The rest of the time it is just poor misunderstood minorities who have been mistreated and we should try to understand them.

Remember the good old days? You found yourself a field, called it s “battle field,” fought it out until one side ran home with you chasing them. You fought for awhile in their country, they surrendered, you win.
Then you supplied your allies with money and goods to rebuild their country so they could hate you later.
Now, it’s all changed. No real “field of battle” anymore; now it’s world wide. Hate crimes aren’t hate crimes anymore, they are retaliation strikes, or pay backs. Small skirmishes designed to advance the conflict. Used in conjunction with the slow destruction of the enemies tradition, and their sense of personal safety simply bring occupation and personal surrender. The defeated enemy can no longer run home to surrender. Home isn’t there anymore, it’s been given away.

Not sure if this is a hate crime? What kind of police work do they have in Canada? The Federal Government has made a much stronger effort in punishing anti-Muslim hate crimes than they have against any other religious group. This is so Bush can prove that he is not anti-Islamic. I wish the president had time to study the Koran. Or maybe he says things in private that he can’t say in public.

A change has come over the so called Liberals who were always pro Jewish. They have now become pro-muslim. They balme the Jews for all the problems in the Middle East, including the reign of International terrorism. The atttacks on Lebanon only fueled the American Liberal fervor. How dare they attack the peace loving people of Lebanon, just because they are harboring a terrorist group that is attacking Israel? How dare they defend their own borders?
They have identified with these poor, exploited, muslim fanatics and actually sympathize with them. They are expounding their so called plight.
We were attacked by muslim fanatics, the Jews are the only ones who have ever done any thing to battle terrorism, and we protect Muslims. Look at our situation. We are at war in defense of our security and all we here is how dare us protect our selves?
I really believe that the hypocrisy of Liberalism is coming to the fore. They never liked Jews and only pandered to them for votes. They finally found a group they can love and identify with. The Islamofacist. It is the only successful group that took an ideology, religious, and turned it into a political force to be reconed with. The liberals are jealous and fascinated at the same time. They have tried the same for years without total success. Now they have a chance.

I agree with stiknstein. A crime is a crime is a crime, no matter what the colors or races, and should all carry the same penalty. Is someone more guilty of murder if they kill someone of a different color? Are they less guilty if the color is the same as theirs?
