Search and Rescue Hero Dogs of Sept 11th

In honor of all the furry friends who got me through my time down at the Pit:

America will never be the same, sweet friends, but one thing we know we can always count on are human AND canine heros, our best friends in the dogs that live with us,— to be there for us.
I know we all remember exactly where we were…when the world stood still…

“Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.”
Roger Caras

“Scratch a dog and you’ll find a permanent job.”

oh and P.S.:
“If your dog doesn’t like someone, you probably shouldn’t either.”

That’s hard to watch, Angel. They are such brave animals, loving, giving all for mankind. Here, in Iraq, Afghanistan, all over the world. God bless these special creatures. You know I’m a dog lover.

Dogs are pretty good judges of character…or at least skeeviness.

Beautiful video. Dogs have been man’s & woman’s friends since the time of creation. Can we get this video going 24/7 on a large screen playing for all to view particularly Daisy, the wife of the 9-11 Mosque iman

  7. Nickie Goomba says:

Wow. I’m gonna walk over and hug my dog.

  8. Matt says:

I have two pugs. Not exactly hero types, but full of love, joy and dependability.

They want only security and food…especially food, and in exchange they will seek to do anything to please my wife and me.

The dogs of 9/11 are very, very special. So dedicated and so persistant.

  10. Bunkerville says:

You did a good one… thanks so much! Cheered me up.

OH, my, what a video……..Sirius’s death made me cry. The stills are wonderful, Angel. I wonder if there’s anything as loyal or loving as a dog?
Thanks for this…….it’s just wonderful and so very very sad.

  12. Christopher-Conservative Perspective says:

Thanks Angel from this Canine-Loving American! That was just terrific!
We are indeed in debt to these rescuerers as well.

Now how to get what seems like a golfball outta my throat?

  13. Brooke says:

Aren’t dogs just fantastic? Loyal, loving, hardworking, forgiving… No wonder Mohammadins dislike them so.

Great quotes! I love my dogs! We have an Alaskan Husky and a half Bloodhound/half German Shepard. I am sure God made dogs to be companions and friends to mankind. Some animals (horses can be this way) bond with people but I think only dogs think of us as family. To my dogs, I am just the leader of a big pack and they are dedicated to the pack and follow the rules of the pack. They rejoice whenever a stray member (kid who grew up and moved out or a family friend) comes home for a visit. They sniff out and measure every stranger. They rejoice at simple things like being able to run out in the yard or going for a walk. They always know when I am down or sick and will hop up next to me as a companion and guardian when I am done with work and hit the recliner couch. My dogs can smile. They watch the borders of the property and bark the alarm when someone approaches. They think they are working when outside as if on patrol. Thank God for dogs!
