Happy JewisH New YeaR!

Rosh Hashanah, beginning tomorrow evening at sundown is when all living things are judged, and is often referred to as the beginning of the Jewish New Year.

It literally means “the head of the year”, and commemorates the anniversary of the creation of the world.

Jews examine their past deeds and asks for forgiveness for their sins.

It is celebrated with holiday greeting cards, special prayers, and sweet foods to ensure sweetness in the New Year. Of course, where’s there’s Jews, there’s food. Heh. girlay.gif Traditional foods sweetened with honey, apples and carrots are served.

It is believed that on Rosh Hashanah the destiny of all mankind is recorded by G-d in the Book of Life.

So to all my “sweet” Jewish friends:
“May you be inscribed in the Book of Life.”
