Chanukkah~!

Where have all the good Men gone.

chanukamenora2

In 175 BCE Antiochus ascended to the Seleucid throne.

Under his reign, the Temple in Jerusalem was looted.
Jews were massacred, and Judaism was outlawed.

Yup. Here we go again eh.killrandomani

When the commanding and dominant Syrian-Greeks sought to eliminate and entirely do away with Jewish life in Israel, the Maccabees did what REAL men do:
They fought back.

Mattathias, a Jewish priest, and his five sons Jochanan, Simeon, Eleazar, Jonathan, and Judah led a rebellion against Antiochus. A rebellion.

chanukamogendovid7

They didn’t convene Congress or call a board meeting.monkeybani

Guess what. They didn’t even stop to ask for a second opinion from Franceberet or The Kingdumb.

Most see the miracle of Chanukah solely in the jug of oil which lasted eight nights instead of one.

chanukkah_candles

I see the miracle of Man.
The military victory, inspired by Faith in God.

They did what men do, when threatened by a deadly, evil enemy who sought to eradicate them all.
They Took up arms.

Physical obstacles did not thwart them.
They did not dhimmi themselves.

be-nd-overdude
They didn’t try to..um… logically “reason” with the enemy.

HOLDING OUT FOR A HERO.

AMERICA, THE FREE WORLD, AND ISRAEL SURE COULD USE ONE RIGHT ABOUT NOW.

In the old days, it was not called the Holiday Season; The Christians called it ‘Christmas’christmascane2 and went to church;

The Jews called it ‘Hanukkah’ menorah7and went to synagogue;

The atheists went to parties and drank. People passing each other on the street would say ‘Merry Christmas!’ or ‘Happy Hanukkah!’

or (to the atheists) ‘Look out for the wall!’ Heh.bangwall

    Happy Chanukah Angel and to all who read this!

    As for heroes, we have them still, but they are fewer than they have been in years past. The concepts of honor and courage have nearly lost their meaning in the minds of the public. Yet, hope remains. There are still those who stand at the forefront between the citizen and our enemies and protect what is best in our society. They defend our nation and they police our streets. In short, they fight what we fear.

    Bonnie Tyler? Wow talk about a throw back.

    Sounds like the wailing wall history is not gunna be rewritten by the paleones. We have another truth to be thankfull for during this Chanukkah.

    Hope the many days of celebration are full of gifts, good memories and fun times with your family.

    Wanted to send a link to a Tina Turner song, but the Road Warrior didn’t turn out to be a good man in real life, so you’z gunna hafta find it yourself.

    Spot on, Patriot! In the “old days”, not just MEN fought… AMERICANS did! How I long for the times when that natural, reactive spirit of pride in your country and eagerness to defend Her were pervasive, not nearly extinct, in our then self respecting People. We’re sooooo close to Round One…

    Happy Chanukkah, Angel. Keep slugging…

  21. Katie says:

    Happy Chanukah, or is it Chanukkah? Or Hannukah?

    Which ever way you spell it is ok. It means the same: Latkies, Dreidles, Presents, and a Menorah!
