“Australian Prime Minister John Howard said Tuesday that Ar-ab nations must recognize Israel’s right to exist for there to be peace in the Middle East…
Australian PM: Arab countries must accept Israel’s right to exist
“There must be unconditional acceptance throughout the entire A-rab world, without exception, of Israel’s right to exist in peace and security behind recognized borders,” Howard told a security conference in Canberra.
“The entire A–rab world - including Sy-ria, Hez–bollah and Ha–mas and in addition Ir-an - must give up for ever the idea that the Israelis can be driven into the sea,” he said.”

Australia’s lookin better by the minute.
Cheers Prime Minister John Howard!
He is drawing a line in the sand..Will anyone follow suit?
Some go so far as to claim that his utterances are empty and vacuous…But at least he is “uttering.”
Of course in A-rab terrorist dreamland, Israel is supposed to make binding “agreements” with them. cough cough..I have what appears to be an existential question then…How does a “non existant entity” (as they vehemently claim Israel is) make any kind of agreement whatsoever eh?
Australia experienced terror in the shape of two major bombings killing hundreds in Bali. The Bali bombings killed 202 people ,most of them young Australians, and injured more than 300.
Have you forgotten that Libs?
Yea yea and predictably the Libs in Aussieland will continue to gnash their teeth in frustration, just like they do everywhere on the map.
Wonder if any Aussies wish to weigh in on this one?

My younger brother atually lives in Australia. He says the liberals there are a joke, and there’s a really strong conservative movement, because they’ve seen what’s happening to the “appeasers” (read France/Spain)
He’s extremely pro-Israel, but he might not be the best gauge for liberal thought, as he hangs out with successful, driven business people with families who try to provide for their families and work 8 - 5. Not a lot of liberals in that group…

PM John Howard has been saying some great things regarding Militant Islam and defending Australian culture. I wish President Bush would be as bold.

Hooray for John Howard! I agree that President Bush needs to stop the “Islam is a religion of peace” stuff and learn from Prime Minister Howard. Great post, Angel!

It is not a contradiction for arabs to sign agreements with the non-existent entity known as Israel. The Arabs never keep them, so they don’t really need a counterparty.

Mr. Howard has been making some courageous statements lately. Australia is diferent and they tolerate the bold more than we do. Here, the accusations would have been flying. We need more boldness.

What we really need are more cajones! Mr. Howard almost makes me want to move to Australia. *sigh*

Right on Angel! It’s people like John Howard that make me proud to call Australia our closest ally in the world. He doesn’t pull his punches, ever.

Egypt goes nuclear…
While the world worries about Iran’s nuclear program, Egypt has announced their plans to build three nuclear power plants by 2020, the first to be operational within 10 years. This is good news for China and Russia, who are now…

Yep, Shlemazl tipped me on this yesterday. I love Howard and think he is going to be a good friend to the U.S. We can count on Canada, Australia, and don’t forget Japan. Plus many others that don’t get the credit they deserve.

Australia, like America, has it’s problems with liberal dhimmitude… It is refreshing to see their PM telling it like it is!

If only he’d give up his fanatical hatred of guns, John Howard would be a truly great man. Still, he should be applauded for his courage and perspicacity.
September 28th, 2006 at 9:16 pm
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE WHAT MR. HOWARD HAS SAID…
BUT…IT CONFUSES ME NO END, THAT ONLY ISRAEL AND THE JEWISH PEOPLE NEED TO BE ACKNOWLEDGED/RECOGNIZED TO ITS RIGHT TO EXIST!!!
TRY THAT ONE DAY ON BLACKS OR WOMEN OR MUZLIMS!!

I love PM Howard, too, and they do a great deal to support us. Thier troops are top notch!

I suspect the problem isn’t so much a formal declaration that Israel has a right to exist as much as the belief by most of Islam that Israel should be denied existence itself by means of annihilation.
It wouldn’t be the first time in history that oppressors acknowledge someone’s right but ignored them anyway.
It is what is in their hearts that counts, not what is on paper that counts.
