“YouthS” AttacK Tree

Indo-nesian police have slapped a cordon around a huge landmark Banyan tree in the capital after members of a Mus–lim youth group attacked it to prove it had no special mystical powers.

The governor of Jakarta filed a complaint with police after youths hacked and damaged the 100-year-old banyan, on a traffic island in the capital, in a bid to dispel rumors the tree harbored special powers.
Police move to protect “mystical tree” from attacks

…The city government tried hard not to cut the tree when we built a new bus lane. It is more than 100 years old and it is important for the environment..

..United Is–lam Youth, said the group had carried out the attack to counter superstitions surrounding the tree.”

Hmm. Any word from the tree huggers yet? flowerpot111.gif

Let us contrast this with what John Paul II had to say with regard to “Respect for Nature”..shall we?

… Nor can the moral character of development exclude respect for the beings which constitute the natural world, which the ancient Greeks — alluding precisely to the order which distinguishes it — called the “cosmos”.

The first consideration is the appropriateness of acquiring a growing awareness of the fact that one cannot use with impunity the different categories of beings, whether living or inanimate — animals, plants, the natural elements — simply as one wishes…

On the contrary, one must take into account the nature of each being and of its mutual connection in an ordered system, which is precisely “the cosmos.”

The dominion granted to man by the Creator is not an absolute power, nor can one speak of a freedom to “use and misuse”, or to dispose of things as one pleases.

John Paul II: Respect for Nature
The limitation imposed from the beginning by the Creator himself and expressed symbolically by the prohibition not to “eat of the fruit of the tree” (cf. Gen. 2:16-17) shows clearly enough that, when it comes to the natural world, we are subject not only to biological laws but also to moral ones, which cannot be violated with impunity.”

Wait.
Are they admitting yet again that ahem..”moderate”,peaceful Muzzlims could be incited to bloodlust and violence at the site of a tree? bombaniqq.gif

If they spent as much time seething over beheadings and all the other tortures condoned by their fellow Muzlims, as they do over an allegedly “mystical” tree , hey…they may even manage to join the rest of us here in 21st century.

But,….er…don’t hold ya breath.

This latest bit of insanity brought to you by…Muzlim “youth”.
Don’t call us violent, or we’ll kill you.

I can see the outcry now from the liberal left. Killing humans is one thing, but a tree? They’ll never forgive that.

  2. InRussetShadows says:

Geez, I am so sick of these stupid Muslim youth doing stupid things. Why isn’t it OK to hate Muslims yet? GRRR.

  3. D. Ox says:

Angel, You’re right though that the tree huggers’ silence will be deafening. Just like the NOW gals over Monica Lewinsky!

Great quotes from JPII. After 200 years of liberal control of media and education, what the world doesn’t know about Catholic teaching, combined with the falsehoods that they THINK they know, would fill volumes… But thanks for pointing out that “respecting life” as God-given covers a lot of territory.

    All the best,
    Me

    Slam Dunk…

According to a report by investigative ‘journalist’ Bob Woodward (check out his body language - everytime he speaks he looks down, implying that what he is saying is not the truth) in his book,”State Of Denial” - George Tenet privately lent his p ….

does this mean they haven’t seen that Al Gore film?

will the Sierra Club be declaring a jihad against jihadists now?

    Thanks for the link, Angel!

Why Muzlims have this need to destroy - seemingly everything around them - rather than create and build, is beyond me. While other Faith communities seem bent on building - homes, houses of worship, hospitals, etc. - all we ever seem to get from the Muzlims is destruction, violence and anger.

I don’t get it, but then I’m not mentally disturbed. Much.

I have a grilled cheese sandwich that looks like a peace-loving Mohammed when you look from the left, but looks like the true murdering dog he is if viewed from the right. I would put it on eBay but I’m afraid of having Muslims blow up restaurants that serve grilled cheese sandwiches in protest.

  8. patty says:

Hmmmmmmmm……… The green people seem to be berry berry quiet.

  9. Brooke says:

Maybe they can get Bo Derek to sit in the tree.

So what they’re saying is that if I don’t believe in Allah and MTP, I can blow up Mecca to prove it isn’t significant? They wouldn’t have a problem with that, would they?

  10. Shayne says:

Maybe we should destroy some parts of Mecca since that doesn’t have any mystical powers either. Do you think THAT would make them shut up?

It may not, but it sure would make me feel better.

  11. Old Soldier says:

Maybe if we planed a banyan in the middle of Mecca and another in the middle of Medina, Islam would self destruct. Worth a try?

  12. American Crusader says:

Even mystical trees are endangered because of Muslim extremist. I guess toads claiming to be princes are next along with unicorns.

  13. Angel says:

laffin..thanks y’all for the “twist” and turns on this story! :)

  14. N.B. Goldstein says:

    Radical Islamists = Human Locusts

Whatever they touch, they destroy. I’m sure they’ll want to build a mosque on top of the site where the tree is, too - to prevent anyone from planting any future trees. Those trees are evil, don’t ya know?

Afterall, you wouldn’t ever be able to move a mosque. They’re holy.

    Great post, Angel!

  15. Tim says:

This is turning into a Tupac and Biggie, East coast vs. West coast thing all over again.

I SAW A HANDFUL OF A-RABIC MOMMIES CRUSHING BANANAS THE OTHER DAY, I THINK IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH WHAT MOEHAMED HAD STICKING OUT OF HIS EAR…..

  17. David says:

Restaaurants that have grilled cheese sandwishes in protest (dontcha just love amphibolous constructions?) would get my business. I’d come by just to watch the fireworks (and maybe bag me a few murdering savage Moose-limbs before the explosion. Salvaged sxplosives could be handy blowing stumps or persuading fish to “come to papa”).

I like the idea: grilled cheese Moose-limb bait.

As to the original story, hmm… how about snagging a few Moose-limb “suicide bombers” and just using THEM to blow stubborn stumps? Bonk ‘em on the head and keep ‘em hogtied until needed. Blow stumps and kill kudzu (with their poison remains) at the same time. Works for me.
