Who cares?..It’s only WomeN

“UNITED NATIONS More than half the 192 member states of the United Nations have no laws to punish men who are violent against women, a U.N. report showed on Tuesday.

U.N. says most members lack domestic violence laws

The report, issued by Secretary-General Ko-fi Ann-an’s office, found violence against women and girls was a global phenomenon that affects at least one in three females in rich and poor countries alike...
..The report cited practices that subjugate women on the basis of tradition and religion, including female genital mutilation, child marriage, and “honor killings” to restore a family’s reputation.”

Oh. C’mon.
Don’t you just love terms like “domestic violence”?

Sounds a whole lot tidier than “men beating the living daylights out of women”, now doesn’t it?
woman-violence.jpg
Millions of women throughout the entire world live in conditions of abject deprivation of their fundamental human rights for no other reason than that they happen to be women.

And yes. They are weaker.
So they get slapped, kicked, punched, cut, raped, mutilated, and killed…and have little or no recourse.

Women are routinely raped as “a weapon of war” with near complete impunity.

Women who are severely beaten and abused are even held accountable and made culpable for the violence against them.
woman-violence1.jpg

Thousands of women are bought and sold, like commodities and trafficked into forced prostitution. The “sex and porn” ahem..”industry” is where you will find them.

In A-rab countries, (Liberal feminists: ignore this..because it may just cause a bit of cognitive dissonance…) discrimination is government-sponsored. Women are unequal before the law.
Family codes take away women’s legal authority and place it in the hands of male family members. (fathers, uncles ..even brothers)
Women are restricted from participation in public life.

Violence and discrimination against women is the largest global social epidemic in the known world.

Ah yes. And the Institute for the Breathtakingly Obvious wants us to believe the U.N. cares?

I love the smell of delusional thinking in the morning.

    it really is quite sad…

meanwhile, Liberal Feminists are eager to vilify the USA?

I’m thankful I live where I do. I respect and admire women too much, and wonder how different of a person I would be in I was exposed to such institutionalized bigotry. I’m a strong person, but when things are fed to you non stop…wow…I’m just lucky.

  3. Tim says:

C’mon Angel, women aren’t covered under the U.N’s Decleration of Human Rights…

  4. Middle America says:

If NOW or those other organizations pull together and push globally, can you imagine the impact?

  5. cube says:

The UN is corrupted beyond the point of saving itself so it’s no wonder it doesn’t help women. And liberal feminists pretend to care about women but they are too busy bashing Bush to do much to help. Pretty sorry situation all in all.

  6. Brooke says:

Oh, Angel, my hubby and I have been “discussing” (arguing) this for the last two days.

He started in on, “Well, why don’t they organize a protest; ask for international help,” and “it’s cultural, it’s not our place to force them to live like us.”

OMG, it’s the first time in a LOOOONG while I’ve been truly ANGRY with him!

They don’t rise up because they CANNOT. They are not permitted to leave their homes, ect. He doesn’t believe that.

And it’s cultrual to BEAT THE $HIT OUT OF YOUR WOMEN?

He didn’t have a response for that one, except to say it isn’t our place to change them.

    If not us, THEN WHO?!?

  7. Brooke says:

And what’s worse, is that all that crap came from a man who would NEVER hit me, and has never lifted a finger to me in seven years.

In fact, he came from a marriage wherein his WIFE hit him on a regular basis, to the point of breaking his rib. Now, he’s by NO means a wuss, but he just never would strike her back.

You’d think that he’d GET IT.

  8. Angel says:

    Thanks alls !!.. :)
and Brooke……….it is happening here EVERY day…Thousands of women sent to the emergency room daily with broken faces and bones……….hundreds of deaths caused by husbands and ex husbands and boyfriends………..show him a newspaper hun…Its a tragedy!!!

What a great post, and don’t forget the female mutilation, clitoris removal, and rapes/killing of women in the Muslim communities … classified as ‘justified and necessary punishment for the woman’s crimes’. Butchers all. Perhaps they would like to have their sex organs jagged off with a sharp rock or rusty knife, because that is what is used on the women. Many die from infection, disease, not to mention the joy of sex that they are deprived of.

And yes, psychological abuse can be as bad or worse than physical abuse. No one can see the scars and it is very hard to prove to a court, judge, layer, policeman.

  10. Gayle says:

Excellent post as always, Angel. I really do believe that the women’s equal rights groups who are silent about this are criminal in their silence. It shows how very selfish they are, not caring about what happens to women in other countries just because it doesn’t affect them personally. Shame!

I know that women in the middle east, and many other places as well have no recourse, because if they tried to defend themselves they would probably be killed, if not by their husbands then by their wonderful neighbor male friends! And some women would probably get in on it too because that’s how totally brainwashed they are.

I would personally never put up with a man beating on me, but neither do I have to worry about my neighbors. In this country we only have to worry about the court system. Any man who beat me would never be able to sleep, I can assure you of that.

Did you ever see that old Alfred Hitchcock TV program where the man beat up his wife, so the wife waited until he went to sleep and killed him with a frozen pork loin? Then she quickly defrosted it in hot water and popped it into the oven, and called the police. When the police showed up she said someone had broken into her house. The entire time the police were looking for evidence, such as a murder weapon, she was cooking it in the oven and they could smell the roast. She invited them to dinner and they ate the evidence! LOL!

Don’t worry… Walt’s safe, bless his heart. He’d never think of hitting me! :)

  11. Debbie says:

Gayle, I saw that Hitchcock show and loved it. What a great idea. (Not that “I” would ever resort to that.) heh My hubby would never lay a hand on me.

Once again this shows that liberals care nothing of women, they only cynically use women’s issues to further the Left’s agenda. When those issues no longer further lib agenda, they’re tossed in the trash. This is worse than apathy, this is real hate in my book. Funny too how the “evil” West is far safer statistically than Third World, Communist (including the CIS), or most Islamist countries. Stuff that makes ya go hmm.

  14. InRussetShadows says:

“Women’s rights groups” are perhaps the most ironic group in existence, as they claim to speak for so many people that actually loathe them. I can’t tell you how many self-proclaimed feminists I’ve chatted with who slap NOW, Steinem, and so on up-side of the head within a few minutes of mentioning that they are feminists. The only reason why these groups have any airtime at all is because lazy journalists are even more thought-deprived than they are.

    21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh…

I remember the Hitchcock episode which Brooke mentioned. Barbara Bel Geddes, I think.

Has anyone here ever seen The Burning Bed and/or The Tracey Thurman Story? The beatings portrayed in those films are so realistic.

Women should not have to endure these atrocities! I’ve known at least three women who were sujected to the nightmare. One had to quit her teaching job and take a job driving a truck to get away from the maniac to whom she was married. But her has a happy ending: she met a wonderful Christian man, whom she married. What a beautiful life she now has!

  19. William Teach says:

Those on the Left and in places like the UN and the media care more for stability then actually solving a problem. Notice how leading womens groups here in the US did not care a lick about freeing women from the terrible conditions under the Taliban and Saddam.

  22. Ogre says:

And just think — the report simply pointed out the countries. I’m sure it didn’t condemn them at all, issue sanctions, suggest they change, or anything like that. As others have pointed out, the UN does not care one bit about human rights, only about power.

  23. Brian Bonner says:

Well, as we know, the U.N. does not actually care about human rights. They care about expanding their power. Were are the Feminists on the U.N.? Where are they on Islam? They were at the U.N. recently pushing their agenda in the USA, so where are they on condemning others who really abuse women?
