Movie LessonS

With y’alls permission, I’d like to share…..

I’ve been a quart low the last few days, and the winds are howling something fierce in N.Y.C., so I curled up with the fam and watched a flick.

Radio.

Based on a true story……It tells of a high school coach and the developmentally challenged man whom he took under his wing….and that’s all Imma gunna say. girlsmile.gif

Set in 1976, great soundtrack, and yes, it is definitely a sentimental heart tugger.

But hey, there’s enough football to keep the guys interested eh?…ok ok ok..for the “P.C.” crowd: and the girls too ok?..lol footballtackle.gif

If your’e in for a warm, uplifting film …

Watch the Trailer

If y’all will indulge me, I will share one of the many things I came away with……..(no, I won’t give away the whole dang plot like the reviews do..lol……mtvani.gif

I’ve eluded to a lost friendship that has been hurting me as of late.
Caring and showing love to someone who does not display in return can be agonizing.

But the movie reminded me of something my soul knew all along, but my pain made me forget.

True friendship involves action.
Doing something for someone else, not just “feeling” something.

And as strange as it may sound……..It also involves “relationship.” In my esteem, this translates as an investment in each other’s spiritual growth, no matter how painful the honesty of our flaws of character may be to our vanity.

And while many pay lip service to this……the support remains constant………even during times of struggle, perhaps even more so then.

Proverbs 18:19
” A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city.”

At one time or another I daresay most of us may have cared for someone and not had our feelings returned or did not hear words we sorely needed to hear or did not witness actions we so longed for.

Perhaps that someone may not be capable or interested in putting forth the effort to extend true friendship…….but that is their journey…not mine.

The line in the movie that brought me the most healing……….

When one of the characters doubted himself for acting in the way he did……….he was told:

“It’s never a mistake to care for someone.”

That reminded me of a song I play on my guitar……..
The Rose…..(Bette Midler)

“..It’s the heart afraid of breaking
that never learns to dance
It’s the dream afraid of waking that never takes the chance

It’s the one who won’t be taken
who cannot seem to give
and the soul afraid of dying that never learns to live ..”

I thank the good Lord that I still have the courage to allow myself to care.

THE BEAUTY OF SELF DETERMINATION IS THE RIGHT TO DO WHATEVER YOU WANT AND LEAVE IT AT THAT…A RETURN ON A FRIENDSHIP INVESTMENT IS GRAVY..THE OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE, IS A CHANCE NOT TO BE MISSED..BECAUSE THE FEELING OF GIVING IS HALF OF PARADISE!!!

Any football movie is a good movie. “Invincible” should be out on DVD soon. Any Eagles fans like myself should watch it. Its very clean, and very good.

Fear is the great bogeyman that can paralyze. Forever keeping us from seeing all that the Creator has in store for us, if we would but have faith and stand/
