Memorial Day 2011

The purpose of all war is ultimately peace.
– Saint Augustine

We come, not to mourn our dead soldiers, but to praise them.
-Francis A. Walker

If you are ashamed to stand by your colors….. you had better seek another flag.

I believe we are ALL soldiers in the good fight sweet Friends.

Your life may be the only Bible some people read.

May God bless you all and God bless America sweet friends.

    What a beautiful post.
Thank you, Angel, and a BIG THANK YOU to all our Soldiers.
This is such a sad holiday, that 2nd from the last photo of the young lady
lying on the grave of her beloved says it all.

God Bless ALL our war hero’s, and comfort the grieving people they left behind.

Thanks for the post Angel. It seems many these days have not a clue as to the meaning behind Memorial Day and this is an excellent way not only to honor the fallen but serve as a 101 lesson or refresher course as to the meaning of it all.

Nice pictures. Quite moving. I was just there hours ago. Check out the album at FB. What I liked the most was the inscription at the Tomb of Unknown that read: “Here rests in honored glory an American soldier known but to God.” “Known but to God – what consolation, what greatness” America has always tried to do what is noble at the cost of personal and national sacrifice.

Who wouldn’t be proud of that? – besides the Obamas? DISGUSTING. They should just go back to Kenya if they do not appreciate the heroism of this nation.

    Thank you.

I like the St Augustine quote. I like to remind people that peace is indeed the opposite of war, but what kind of peace?

A peace where 7th century obscurantists carry out their twisted misogyny and religious bigotry? No thank you. I want real peace.

I wish everyone could see these beautiful pictures and stop to give thanks before firing up their BBQ and enjoying another holiday with their friends and family. Think about those that gave their lives for you on this day.

Through tears I am attempting to say thank you for an amazing post. The picture of the young woman lying atop the grave of her fallen hero nearly did me in. It is not only the soldiers who sacrifice so much, it is their families also.
