ThanksgivinG…IndeeD

Ah. My favorite holiday is upon us.
What am I grateful you ask?..Well, you did ask didn’t you? Heh. ![]()
May I begin sweet friends with my family and loved ones.
For our very own constitutional government in these United States, and yes, (sorry ACLU)…for capitalism, where hard working Americans can enjoy the bounty they work so arduously for. ![]()
For our liberties and laws that make our nation the standard that almost all nations use as a yardstick of emancipation and independence.
For having been born in America……the, most prosperous, yet the most giving……(and with no apologies offered), unquestionably the most powerful nation on Earth.
For our precious freedoms. ![]()
Freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, and freedom of speech that people that have emigrated from almost every other land just to taste.
Our freedom to search for the Pursuit of our own Truth, whatever that may be.
For our stunning national resources that sustain our charmed way of life. ![]()
For our precious soldiers who die defending protesters, who then turn around and burn our honorable flag. ![]()
God bless America.
My blessing for y’all is that we all make our efforts in whatever way we can to contribute to her glorious fate. ![]()
And just remember:
An optimist is a person who starts a new diet on Thanksgiving Day. HeH.

Happy Thanksgiving sweet friends!

I can’t add to that , only echo those thoughts.
My Wife and I were loading groceries in the van tonight at a store near Offutt AFB when we heard the lonely sound of ‘Taps’ played - presumably as the Base flag was being lowered for the day.
So thankful to God for the protectors of our nation.
Thankful for health, family , friends, work- I am so blessed.
I’ve been too stressed to be blessed the past couple weeks.
How foolish. I need to give thanks every day.
I am too blessed to be stressed.
As a Thanksgiving Day gift to you all,
Read “The First New England Thanksgiving” by Peter Marshall.
excerpt:
” Every school child has been told for decades upon decades that the Pilgrims came to America for religious liberty, or religious freedom.
Not quite right. Shallow history teaching….”

Dear Angel,
I’ve long been aware of the incipient danger of a massive “Turkey uprising,” during the November Holiday season. And, as a precautionary measure, I snap my finger while whistling “Dixie” twice a day. So far, this has worked very effectively, and so I approach the fateful Thanksgiving date with little fear :). I’m told that, the very same method works just as well to dispel the possibility of elephant stampedes in Buffalo NY (or is that Buffalo stampedes in Elephant NY, I get confused :)), as well as tyrannosaurus attacks almost everywhere (except in the movies).
Therefore, I feel confident that I can wish you and all yours a holiday safe from the prospect of the main course biting back :).
As always, thank you for Being,
and may the L-rd bless you, yours, and our beloved country,
O!s
Always,
David

I will always remember Thanksgiving in 1971.
I was a soldier in Viet Nam, and went on R&R to Sydney, Australia.
On the plane, as I was commenting about my anticipation of Thanksgiving, another soldier pointed out that Thanksgiving was solely an AMERICAN holiday, not observed in Australia.
But, when I got to Sydney, the Mormon couple I stayed with arranged for me to have Thanksgiving dinner at the home of an American family living in Australia.
Thus, I was reminded of how special Thanksgiving is, and how peculiarly an American custom, and how blessed we are as American citizens.
Thanksgiving Day is both patriotic AND religious.
Thank you.

How can we possibly count all our blessings? We can’t. They are too many to count.
But on Thanksgiving, we must pause to consider some of them and to focus on the good in life–the good which comes from His bounty.
First on my list…I was born an American and live in the greatest nation on earth.

Happy Thanksgiving Day, Angel.
God has richly blessed our nation with resources untold; but the most precious resource is our voluntary heroes who defend our way of life. May He bless them and their families. Remember them in your prayers.

Thanksgiving is also my favorite holiday. No other holiday celebrates family as much as Thanksgiving does.
That was a great story John Robert Mallernee…our Australian friends are always there for us.
I agree with Always on Watch, I can think of no other country that I would rather be born in.
Happy Thanksgiving Day Angel and Angel’s readers.

Beautiful post. We should all be thankful all year, but around the holidays we seem to really concentrate not only on our blessings, but ‘being thankful in all things’, because we know that all things work together for good in the Lord.

Thanks , God, for harvest.
We plant and tend, and the ground brings forth food.
Simple, yet amazing.
When I was younger, we went to Grandpa and Grandma’ s for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. Grandma had a big Hobart mixer, like a Kitchen-aid on steroids, in which she whipped 20 pounds of potatoes for the great gathering. What a machine, and what a feast!

To properly give thanks is to remember the source of all that is worth giving thanks for and that is our Creator. His marvelous gifts to this country - freedom to worship - beauty -abundance of resources - a people who thrive - security are all gifts to be appreciated. To use these things righteously is the highest form of giving thanks -in this we shall keep persevering to be worthy of His gifts.
