Feeling anxious? Your mood may actually change how your dinner tastes, making the bitter and salty flavours recede, according to new research.
Mood makes food taste different
This link between the chemical balance in your brain and your sense of taste could one day help doctors to treat depression.
..The work has also generated interest from flavour houses — companies that develop chemicals for the food and drink industry — who are interested, for example, in making foods taste just as sweet with half the amount of sugar. “Theoretically there would be the possibility of enhancing your meal with drugs that affect brain chemicals so that things would taste better — you could have a ‘designer taste tablet’..”
The good ole brain chemicals..uh uh… serotonin , noradrenaline, tryptophan.
As for me, I’ll pass on the new “drug” they discover and just take the chocolate thanks. ![]()

Woo! Hoo! Good post, Angel!
Food to me is one of the greatest things in life… right up there with big guns, fast motorcycles/boats/cars/airplanes and propagating the species (or at least going through the movements)!
As PO’d as I am with a lot of the folks in the Middle East, I absolutely adore their food! Nothing like a great vindaloo curry that is so spicy it makes you sweat from the crown of your head downward as you smell it cooking! Speaking of which, some of the best curry and related recipes I have ever prepared come from the site “Death by Curry” for those of you with similar palates.
OK, I gotta’ go… I’m feeling the need to re-feed the furnace.

Angel, the food you have pictured is now illegal in New York. So sorry while I engorge myself on some of that delicious fare. Of course if you must you can always fly down for a bite of rich gooey trans-fatty acids. I’ll meet you at the airport. (Of couse Jersey is closer)
