Kobe Bryant has his own Opinion?

Wow. Say what you will bout Kobe but check this out:
Refusin to back Trayyyvon?

Oopsie Doopsie.

Kobe Backlash: Called ‘Confused,’ ‘Cornball,’ ‘Jerk’ After Refusing to Back Trayvon Martin

“I won’t react to something just because I’m supposed to, because I’m an African-American,” Bryant told the magazine.

“That argument doesn’t make any sense to me. So we want to advance as a society and a culture, but, say, if something happens to an African-American we immediately come to his defense? Yet you want to talk about how far we’ve progressed as a society?

Well… then don’t jump to somebody’s defense just because they’re African-American. You sit and you listen to the facts just like you would in any other situation, right? So I won’t assert myself.

Apparently Cobe went of da reservation on dis one so that makes him public enemy numero uno?
And what of humor and race?
Where does humor end and racism begin?

Racism seems to connote when there is malice involved, does it not?
Is it never acceptable to mock, mimic or poke fun at others different than ourselves?
“White people” have long been thought to be the ones responsible for keeping the blacks down, even now. That belief gave carte blanche to poke fun at “crackers” and “whitey”, insisting whitebread had better laugh along with the perennial put downs.

Some go so far as to say “white people”, as a generalization is racist in and of itself.

Why is it socially acceptable and cool if your skin is brown and you’re “down” like one of da bros – to rant ’bout “nappy hair” or “hoes” till da cows come home and never be accused of using negative stereotypes toward white or black women?

When did it become acceptable to tease when the joke teller is of the ethnic group, religion, gender or minority themselves?

Women have been the brunt of hurtful, even inciteful humor since the dawn of civilization.
Women themselves participate in their own self effacement.

Jokes habitually target womens’ bodies or anatomy. These derogatory comments are supposed to be ‘all in jest’…. no matter how personal or crude.

To accept race-based or anti woman humor as innocent and all in fun… is to step down a very, dangerous path.
Making fun of Jews or women due to physical or ethnic idiosyncrasies was within acceptable limits in our culture.

The consequences, however, were generations of Jews and women who saw insulting them as accepted social behavior, which they begain to even partake in themselves.

Wouldn’t you agree that routine ridicule of women, (and it is routine), or the prejudicial singling out of racial groups is what should give us pause?

Then again, How about using humor to drive the point home?

Have the unending depictions and ridicule of Christianity not pushed the limits of good taste over and over again?

After all…What are the origins of prejudice?

Thousands of generations ago, we were nomadic, even tribal beings. Suspicion of and scuffles with other tribes were essential in maintaining tribal boundaries and preserving hunting grounds to ensure the future of ones kinfolk.

We are a product of this evolution, are we not.
Suspicion and notions of mistrust of others who are “different” is quite normal and natural.

Thankfully, most of us have evolved and developed the intelligence to understand our history, as well as the social structures which permit us to break down “tribal” barriers without the need to first club each other over the head.

Just picture two friends, (or yourself for that matter) who have broken down these barriers that may have existed. They can tell each other jokes that refer to the other’s “tribal” differences, without either one losing their heads.

It’s all about security and trust.

Notice, I said ‘most of us’.
Apparently, some never laugh.

However, if whites, women, Jews and Christians are fair game…………….
Why are we silenced when trying to laugh at Muzlims or Arabs?
Can we not snicker at the bloodthirsty monsters who call themselves Ham-ASS, or, occasionally snort at the compliant stooges who call themselves “moderates”, who never speak out against terrorism by their brethren and truly hate the “West”?

Is not all fair in love and jest?
Just askin.

And now……….

Not funny?

Heh. What say y’all, my funny friends?

  5. Katie says:

If you are Black you have to tow the party line or you will be vilified worse than white people. The party line is everything and everyone is racist if they are white.

  6. William Stout says:

The truth is that the last great reservoir of racism resides in those who profess a leftist ideology. The same is true of misogyny and closed mindedness. The repeated insults from MSNBC toward conservatives alone is proof of this. Is a black a conservative? Not authentically black. Is a woman a conservative? Then she is stupid and self loathing. In fact, the left believes that there should be two governments, one for conservatives and one for the left. The left gets the good government, and harassed by the conservative government. If they could, they would tax conservatives out of existence.

Only once before in our nation have we experienced such polarization, and that was during the Antebellum period. Now talk of succession is rampant in the States. Secession from the Federal Government, secession from the State governments. Secession from neighboring counties. Some wish to secede because of ludicrous laws, some because of taxation, some because of blatant tyranny, and some because of lawmakers ignoring complete blocks of voters and their wishes. This too is an aspect of political ideology.

Because the left has inoculated it’s adherents against the protestations of the right, they ignore them completely when they occupy political office. The result of such policies? Separatist terrorism. The Basques of Spain, the French Canadians, the IRA, to name a few who pursued bloodshed to gain independence. Fortunately, the left still has some shared values with the right and this has prevented the emergence of violence in our nation. At least on the side of the right.

Go to the report of any mass casualty incident and you will see pundits pointing the finger of blame on conservatives, until it comes out that the offender was either crazy or a leftist. Do these same pundits apologize and change their ways? Not at all, they merely wait for the next mass casualty incident to point the finger of blame once again in the desperate hope that this time they will be right. The same can be said of race.

The left moans about how many children of color are expelled from school in comparison to whites. Yet, they are silent when groups of dark skinned children cruise the streets of downtown stealing and attacking anyone unlucky enough to be caught in their path or when they attack elders on a bus and end up being stabbed for it or when they assault a neighborhood watch person and are shot. When one of them ends up dead as a result of their aggressive behavior, they are never revealed as the predators that they truly are, no they are reported as saintly children who were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

There are three types of lies. There are lies, damned lies, and leftist speech. Look at Venezuela, at Ukraine and the Crimea, at Detroit and Obamacare, and you will see the end of leftist politics. Why should race relations be any different?

I was glad Kobe didn’t automatically tow the “party” line. We need more people to stand up and speak their minds.

I think the sooner we leave the PC nonsense behind us, the better we will get along. Too many are just itching to be offended by the slightest of slights.

  9. Carol-Christian Soldier says:

    Right on Angel and-
    right on William Stout-!!
as to Detroit -my father warned us kids about giving ‘ADC- welfare’- to those who would not work -and the results are seen in my ‘home city’ DETROIT–

  10. Ed Bonderenka says:

Have you seen the kerfluffle involving Juan Williams kid Raffi?
Turns out he and his brother are Republicans!
And some idiot Ebony editor accuse him of not knowing what being black was about.

  11. z says:

I wasn’t sure if this was one post or two, either!
Anyway…I’m so proud of Kobe. I hadn’t heard this at all.

Ed, I didn’t know BOTH of Williams’ sons were Republicans! Yes, I’d heard about Raffi. My gosh, don’t Blacks understand how bad it sounds not to allow any thought but the liberal line? I’d be humiliated if any group I was part of felt that way.

  12. Bunkerville says:

Nice one Angel. I am back posting after a much needed break from the cold northern climes.

  13. ron says:

Quite the nice surprise. But the truth pays….Turns out that conservatives are not just fighting a battle; inspite of the recriminations thrown their way for the last 130-40 years, for freedom but now according to statistics their survival…and winning the info war. Thank God.

  14. Jerry (DaBlade) says:

Loved it all. especially the Wicked Wok :) Our country elected a president twice based on race alone, despite his lack of experience and hateful ideology. I think we might have a ways to go to fulfill Dr. King’s dream, right? Thanks for the laugh Angel.
