Blacks and Jews?

Love this story my friends!!!

His father abandoned the family when the child was an infant, His mother became a prostitute and the boy and his sister had to live with their grandmother.
Early in life he proved to be gifted for music and with three other kids he sang in the streets of New Orleans. His first gains were the coins that were thrown to them.

A Jewish family, Karnofsky, who had immigrated from Lithuania to the USA had pity for the 7-year-old boy and brought him into their home.

Initially given ‘work’ in the house, to feed this hungry child. There he remained and slept in this Jewish families home where, for the first time in his life he was treated with kindness and tenderness.

When he went to bed, Mrs. Karnovsky sang him a Russian Lullaby that he would sing with her.

Later, he learned to sing and play several Russian and Jewish songs.

Over time, this boy became the adopted son of this family.

The Karnofskys gave him money to buy his first musical instrument; as well the custom in the Jewish families. They sincerely admired his musical talent. Later, when he became professional musician and composer, he used these Jewish melodies in compositions, such as St. James Infirmary and Go Down Moses.

The little black boy grew up and wrote a book about this Jewish family who had adopted him in 1907.

In memory of this family and until the end of his life, he wore a star of David and said that in this family he had learned “how to live real life and determination.”

You might recognize his name.

This little boy was called Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong.

With all the horror around us friends..I needed THIS baddo.

Give a listen. It will help you heal and soar..Trust me on this.
Blessings to each and every one of you keeping the Faith through these frightening times.

Music is the salvo to a pained soul.

Let the reins of hell fall upon the evil HAMAS and may they be buried alive WITHOUT MUSIC.

Many Jews participated in the movement for integration. It would be nice to see a little return on the favor. Just saying.

I didn’t know this Angel. What an inspirational post this is. We need everyone to do the same thing. Yes indeed.

Have a fabulous weekend my wonderful friend. Big hugs. Love you! :)

Incredible story. Thank you for sharing. In these horrific times it’s always refreshing to hear about humanity engaging in acts of love and kindness to one another.

That was a wonderful story, Angel. I always believe that we need to let people be people, and help those who need help. When our society is measured in racial terms, we lose our humanity. Killing people because of race or religion is not worshiping, it is just murder. Keep the Faith, Angel.

Thank you for that, Angel. I needed a smile myself. I never knew that story, but it doesn’t surprise me. Kindness is something that goes way beyond a simple act.

Wonderful story about Armstrong, Angel. One that I was not aware of–certainly something that should be discussed more.

I hope your Monday goes well.

And why am i not surprised…

the Jewish people are “programmed” that way ,to help others..

The kindness of the Jews is legendary, thank you Angel for one

    of many examples..

Oh!! that’s right / they warn their enemies before an

airstrike…try to find another country that did that…

Think you could find any stories of a Muslim family adopting/fostering/helping a black child gain confidence and ability to succeed.

Maybe as the 13th wife in the house…..ha, ha, if she’s young and athletic.
