Students wear fake blood to protest military show us..
“Students protesting military recruiters on campus staged a “die-in” in the Reynolds Club marketplace on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, the Marine recruiters, who had booked tables with ORCSA, failed to arrive on either day.

The protesters, made up as corpses with fake blood on their faces and clothes in order to “make immediate” the casualties in Iraq, distributed pamphlets with graphic pictures of torture and death and invited passers-by to put on similar shirts in a show of support.

They also set up a mock recruitment board “for the dead” with a roster of the soldiers killed in Iraq and spaces beneath for students to sign up to become “one of the dead.”

“The dead are the oldest branch of the military,” said protestor Jarrett Belle-Isle, a second-year in the College. “We’re the most honest branch of the military. The recruiters are part of a machine that produces dead bodies.”

The protesters also displayed a wedding photo album labeled “Military Iraq,” containing photos from the Abu Ghraib prison scandal…”

Well ..isn’t that special?
I reckon we can safely assume these ahem…students aren’t particularly proud of the sacrifices the Armed Forces is making to preserve freedom for them, and all people, everywhere.
Have they bothered to examine “jus the facts m’am”, the way the operation has been politicized and reported to the home front in the mainstream media?
Have they visited Vets for Freedom to hear authentic stories first hand?
Do they trouble themselves to read accounts from those with “their boots on the ground” as to what really is being accomplished in Iraq and Afghanistan…

As for me, I’m quite certain they have some highly uninformed opinions on war or U.S. foreign policy based on the bubblegum rhetoric they have learned to repeat like good little puppets. Personally, I’ve never found much political principle in people who resort to such dramatic, hateful displays.

Is appeasement the alternative to war?..have they paused to even think about the upshot of such a truism…or are they just content viewing themselves as latter-day shamans and oracles, who flash peace signs and magically restore the balance of the Universe.
It’s too bad that..
Appeasement endangers all of us.
It would appear that attempting to demoralize our troops is the most creative way they choose to excercise their First Amendment rights..how bout they attempt the same display to convey anti-Muzlim sentiments?…oh wait…the University would ban that at the risk of offending “terrorist’s” feelings. Silly me.
Perhaps they should fly to the countries of sympathy and attempt the dramatic display in the streets of an A-rab country, or any other with an animus against the U.S. ..Yea.
You know…The ones with such ideals as freedom, tolerance, pluralism, and individual rights …See how kewl they feel when they’re rendered headless…with their “red paint” running down the streets.

Oh, barf. These kids haven’t had ANY taste of the real world yet, have they?

More of the same, the evil ‘American Military Industrial Complex’ is to blame for the worlds troubles. If it were not for the U.S. the world would be a better more peaceful place where everyone would be equal with respect to lives needs.

Well, the Vulcans haven’t landed yet…

Of course, if you mention the hundreds of thousands of Americans who fought and died for their right to spew this kind of free speech, they’ll simply change the subject or speak of moral relativism.

Academic idealists in their cushy, bubblewrapped unrealistic, uninformed, liberal-elitist world. Arrrrgh. Good ranting there, Angel.

I really like that statement … maybe we should start up a fund that allows them to fly over one way free to achieve that objective.

Thanks alls…o yea a fund …I donate the first buck..:)

It is amazing that when others protest against the war or something like such, they really do not know what they are protesting against. Knowledge is power. The more one knows, the less they protest. The more we know about the thing we are judging, the less we judge. When are the people of the United States of America going to stop jugding and simply grow up?

Or, do you think any of them could ever find it in themselves to figure out why we are a Nation of Freedoms? Or, how many men in uniform have fought and died that they are able to freely protest the very ones that keep our nation free and safe? And, yes, they should go check out the website and see what REAL soldiers are saying, rather than listen to the people such as Sheehan and others who are playing on the sympathy of people - not upholding her son’s choice to join AND REJOIN the service to fight for his country. My husband was in Vietnam with the Air Force Air Rescue Unit - the war that people wanted to forget - and did not welcome the boys home. Is this what these people want to happen again?

Thanks for this post - wish all the protesters would come here and read it!

Barb..thank your husband for me personally!..and thanks alls for yer inputs!

IT NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME THAT THE VERY RIGHT TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES AS IDIOTS, IS PRECISELY THE RIGHT BEING FOUGHT FOR IN IRAQ!!!!
GO TRY THAT PROTEST IN THE KREMLIN AND LET ME KNOW WHAT HAPPENS..

How horrible! Don’t these infants realize they can only put on their macabre little shows because the US Military ensures their freedom of speech, that many men have died to preserve their right to be complete and horrid idiots? Sickening.

Adolescents haven’t received their life experience training wheels yet. They’re still being held up by their liberal “daddys” in the form of leftist professors and politicians that appeal to the emotional level of non-thinking - not wisdom.

Someday they’ll be able to ride by themselves and think other than simplistic thoughts, when they learn the consequences of such foolishness as liberalism.

I guess it’s better that they at least are passionate about these issues - they’ll make tommorrow’s leaders, some of them. In the meantime they are actually a welcome an embarassment and symbol of the liberal mindset, or as Lenin or Marx once said - “useful idiots”
