Hyphenated AmericanS? I don’t think So

Hmmm…I can hear the arguments already..Multi-culturalism is good for America.
Ethnic diversity and cultural differences should be celebrated!..Well before we break out into a “C’mon people now smile on yer brother, everybody get together try to love one another right now” fest…Let’s do the hard part: examine facts.

Once upon a time, immigrants actually came here um..“legally”..shocking, I know.
Not only that but they were law-abiding citizens who became self sufficient,(wouldn’t dare take hand outs or welfare due to their integrity and healthy sense of pride), worked hard, learned English and even Anglicized their names in some cases to become part of the larger American community.

I am not advocated name changes, but learning English should be mandatory not optional for immigrants. There are now thousands of foreign speaking immigrants (many ILLEGAL),and not only are they not all living together harmoniously – there are warring ethnic and racial groups.
The illegal aliens, HyphenateD Americans some of whom identify more with their own ethnic group than with American culture as a whole. Check the census bureau. There are close to 150,000 “Middle-Eastern Americans” in the U.S. illegally!

And that’s UnifyinG?

In many cities, the burden falls on taxpayers who must take up the slack for uninsured patients , who need housing, and soaring crime rates. Not to mention the drug culture.Oh sorry I just did.

Liberals say: Just legalize them all. Oh yes ..brilliant. Let us reward illegal activity and that will CURB immigrants from smuggling themselves and their methamphetamine into our borders?
Congress already tried that in 1986: millions of illegal immigrants were granted amnesty..and since then we have been bombarded with thousands more.

Times have changed, and not only are illegal immigrants a financial burden, some pose a national security threat. What if the “immigrants” who flew planes into the World Trade Center” had been denied visas..Hmmm.

“Al Qaeda sleeper cells are believed to be operating in 40 states, according to the FBI and other federal authorities, awaiting orders and funding for new attacks in the United States.”
The Washington Times

Nearly 100,000 illegal immigrants are criminals and have been convicted..that’s right I said convicted of rape, murder, drug dealing, and child molestation.
Whatever happened to good ole deportation? Not even for captured child molesters???

The United States does not have to apologize to liberals for its overly generous immigration policy which has admitted more legal immigrants than any other nation in the World.

Every homeowner has a right to have a fence, an alarm system, even bars and gates on their windows.Every nation has the same right. It is high time we go back to controlling our borders…before there aren’t any left to control.

Great post. Nations are defined by a common culture and outlook, DEFINED borders, and a common language.

If we cannot defend our borders from the hordes of illegal aliens, how can we defend our borders from invasion?

Even one of the greatest Liberals, Eugene McCarthy, in his later years wrote a book espousing tightening up the borders and promoting English as the official language of the US.

It is time for a change in policy. Do our elected officials have the fortitude to do it?

You know who I blame? FDR. He help put this country on the government dole. It started the downhill slide. Ever since then everyone and his brother wants everything handed to them.

my dictionary defines “these” as those welcomed onto our shores LEGALLY..people who wanted the opportunity to start a new life as contributing members of soceity..the ability to slip over the border or race thru the tolls when no one is looking does not constitute a citizen.. i propose every “illegal” turn themselves in tommorrow to be educated..i.e..language..to be registered..(identifed)..we need to separate our friends from our enemies..perhaps checking in on Flying Schools would be of assistance..to deport the people that commit crimes against us..we as a people need the spine to say NO..sometimes pieces of trash need to be thrown OUT!!!!!!!

Fabulous post, Angel! I’m so impressed!

Amen! I’m all for immigration so long as you come into this country LEGALLY. My great-grandfather came to this country from Scotland. At least he had the courage to do so via Ellis Island.

This is just my personal opinion but I see the term “illegal” to mean “against the law”. Hence, if someone enters the country “illegally”, they must have broken a law. The should be prosecuted appropriately. Not rewarded with benefits normally reserved for lawful citizens.

  7. WomanHonorThyself says:

Heck yea..the immigrants from back in the day nearly kissed the ground of America coming thru Ellis Island…u certainly dont see that kind of gratitude any more..sigh.

    indian chris,
You are so right. His quest to make an entitlement society permanent as ruined the concept of seeking opportunity and earning prosperity.

What is lost in all the noise is citizenship is a priveledge, not a right. If you want to enjoy the rights of citizenship, you must have the priveldge legally bestowed upon you. It is your responsibility to follow the law. If you do, you will receive the priveledge of citizenship and all of the rights it entails.

If you are an irresponsible law breaker, go back, get sent back, leave this country. I know your family here will suffer. Too bad. It is your irresponsibility that brought about this suffering. Maybe you can take them back with you, then come back here legally, live here legally, and earn your citizenship.
