Maryland Food Collective: Anti-Semites
In late April, a checkout person at the Maryland Food Collective told a student that her “I Stand With Israel T-Shirt” was offensive, and refused to serve her..

This is a University sanctioned dining facility…The University of Maryland.
I always thought the whole idea of co-ops was about about people not profits, tolerance and er..cooperation..silly me.

Oh wait. Howzabout the Maryland Food “Co-op” Collective cashiers wear neon signs announcing their sympathies, ..you know ..like this anti semitic cashier could have worn a t-shirt saying:
“I would serve radical Muzlims and suicide bombers who murdered 3,000 of my fellow Americans and blow up innocent Israeli children, (because if I don’t, they will probably bomb me).
…but Jews can’t buy lunch.”
Better yet, try denying “service” to a Black or gay person and see how long your ahem..”co-op” remains in your student center.
Geez. I had the silly notion that “customer service” actually means “giving service to the customer”, not concerning yourself with their t-shirts or political statements.
Nothing novel here. Blatant anti-Israel bias typical of these leftard co-op participants, which has been bloody obvious in both national political discourse at large and now on this campus of the University of Maryland.
What self-respecting business “defers” customers and tolerates a biased, obnoxious cashier, who chooses whom to serve based on whether he or she feels intellectually “offended” by the political leanings of the potential customer.
Not to mention that this behavior is against the UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND HUMAN RELATIONS CODE , which obviously doesn’t apply to Jews.
What’s the name of the “cashier” in question..Is he/she hiding?
Had this been an anti Muzlim incident CA-IR, the unindicted co-conspirators of terrorism with ties to Ham-ASS, would have threatened lawsuits and ensured that the University of Maryland write press releases which would no doubt make headlines.
But I’ll bet not a single one of you have even heard bout this lil “incident” eh.
Jews are way too passive.
Bring a dang lawsuit.

My cousins lived in Jerusalem so we grew up around stickers that said Pray for Israel and a lot of the Israeli culture was very apparent through them.I am so glad for that.

I have this suspicion that if the US government suddenly dropped all support for Israel and through it to the ragheads then the left wing would suddenly be supporting Israel. The cashier was obviously another one of those dimwit liberals whose entire range of political, scientific and religious awareness comes from a list of bumper sticker slogans.
I was really amused the other day when, as I was watching some video from the yearly KOS convention at another site, an attending lib couple was stopped and interviewed, and the woman stated that she was against the Bush Administration because she was tired of being deprived of her civil liberties. When asked exactly which civil liberties she was being deprived of, she fell silent — she was evidently confused as such specifics hadn’t been included on the bumper sticker. After some fumbling around, her companion, trying to save her from embarrassment (it’s hard to believe that liberals actually possess that emotion, given much of what they say) asserted lamely that he knew some people who had been turned away at airports.
Another interviewee charged that FOX is a conservative propaganda tool. When asked if he had ever watched FOX News, he said he had not, nor does he even own a television.
I imagine that the cashier was merely referencing the bumper sticker she owns that says Israel is an eeevil colonial power that persecutes the poor, peaceful, guileless “Palestinians”.
Egad, there are armies of those moonbats out there!

Has the University spoken about this incident? Until they do, and make it clear that anti-semitism will not be tolerated, the Feds should cut off all funding to the University, and so should the state of MAryland.

As a longtime member of the Maryland Food Collective and someone who knows the situation personally, noone on this site has made any attempt to understand the situation. First, the student did receive service, the worker simply said SHE was not going to serve the student and passed her on to someone else. Admittedly, this must have been humiliating for the student, but lets be honest here. Second, the worker took offense not at the phrase I Stand With Israel, but that the shirt proclaimed the student as a zionist. Zionism is a political theory, one that not every Jew agrees with, so can this really be called anti-Semitism? Real oppression happens all over the world, but don’t jump down someone’s throats when such a small action happens. One of the coolest, most accepting places any college campus has ever known was almost shut down because of one worker’s emotional reaction and what can only be called a high-powered blitz from various Jewish organizations. What the worker did was not officially sanctioned by the Co-op, only her right to express what she says. If anyone on this forum can explain to me how suppressing the political voice of a citizen of this nation through fear is what makes us the USA, not Saudi Arabia, pass it on. And to the individual who wished he could bruise the worker, I’m glad cooler/smarter heads prevailed on both sides. Can it be eye for an eye when I haven’t actually physically harmed you?
