The U.S. Open and Me! Heh

The U.S. Open was a blast.
Woohoo! We got to hob nob with the greatest players ever………alright alright..well…with their pictures at least. Heh. tennis-girl.gif

Hung out with my favorite dudes from the FDNY, firefighter3.gif of course.

Our “finest” was out in droves as well.

Not to mention awesome athletes……….ah!

Love is nothing in tennis, but in life it’s everything. heartc.gif

It’s one-on-one out there, man. There ain’t no hiding. I can’t pass the ball.
Pete Sampras

I have always considered tennis as a combat in an arena between two gladiators who have their racquets and their courage as their weapons.
Yannick Noah

So much has been said about what comprises the perfect athlete.
Focus, sportsmanlike behavior, the ability to work with a team, discipline,
high motivation, commitment.

The list seems endless.

A positive perspective, mental toughness, intrinsic motivation, high stress tolerance and the ability to cope with adversity.
Emotional Control?

No wonder I’m sittin on this side of the fence, Heh.

Do y’all have a favorite athlete? Someone who combines all the qualities ya admire? applause.gif

As for me…easy on the spitting, swearing, and tude.
I’ll take the decent, honorable, yet ferocious athlete any day of the week.

Hittin the ball to my buddies at Blog @, Perri Nelson’s Website, Rosemary’s Thoughts, DeMediacratic Nation, 123beta, Big Dog’s Weblog, Right Truth, Nuke’s News & Views, Stuck On Stupid, Webloggin, The Amboy Times, Leaning Straight Up, , Conservative Cat, third world county, The Uncooperative Radio Show!, The World According to Carl, Blue Star Chronicles, Pirate’s Cove, and CommonSenseAmerica, thanks to Linkfest Haven Deluxe.

Sorry did i make it to obvious!!!!
    My namesake….The Mailman…he ALWAYS delivered…Mr. Karl A. Malone.
Karl Anthony Malone, a.k.a. “The Mailman”, (born July 24, 1963, in Bernice, Louisiana) is a retired American professional basketball player. He was nicknamed in college as the Mailman for his consistency (“the mailman always delivers”) and his work in the post. Malone twice won the NBA Most Valuable Player award. He is generally considered one of the greatest power forwards in NBA history.

  6. Debbie says:

Sounds like you had a great time, Angel. I’m so glad. Yes I value the athletes with integrity and honor. People like Peyton Manning and his entire family come to mind.

  7. Gayle says:

Integrity and honor in athletes isn’t as abundant in today’s world as it used to be, so those who practice it are admired more than ever, Angel girl! And yes, I agree with Robert… you are looking good! :)

    Catching up after the holiday…

Here’s the image, now you need to go visit Chicago Ray and read the article that goes with it. (I love the photoshop job, don’t you? Chicago Ray did it himself.) Hamas: We fired American weapons at Israel, Terror group…

After the DISASTROUS week that the NY Yankees had, I’m in hiding

  10. Phil says:

    Hi Angel,

I have less of a problem with the Tude versus the Lewd. I mean a lot of self confidence can look like Tude to many but the Lewd is never called for.

Now is that supposed to be “FDNY” Or is it “NYFD”? Just wondering because I thought that the name of the City came first.

Also as much as you hang out with them have they ever let you drive their big Fireengine trucks yet? :D

  11. The Hermit says:

I always thought of Tennis as a sport for “the beautiful people.” Guess I was right. Maybe all that running back and forth keeps you in trim.

  12. Ogre says:

Lookin’ good! You sure you weren’t playing in those matches?

I don’t know if I have one favorite athlete — I really like Dan Marino. Another big hero of mine is Paul O’Neil from the Yankees — he said every time he walked up to the plate, he expected to get a hit. Then, of course, there’s Derek Redmond…

  13. kevin says:

I’m a big baseball fan. My favorite player for years has been Tony Gwynn, even if he is retired.

  14. Joe Gringo says:

my favorite athlete would have to have the following qualities:

    -physically gifted
-intense desire to win all of the time, not just compete
    -strikes fear into fellow competitors
-a likeable, very well rounded person
-I would want to be like him
    -be a conservative
    -takes nothing for granted
    -never gives up
    -high morals

….the list could on, but, my fav is Tiger Woods.

  15. nanc says:
