Like…Duh

IN another case of researchers reporting the bleeding obvious, European scientists have found that children are smarter than chimpanzees.
Shock: kids smarter than chimps
A unique study comparing the abilities of human toddlers to chimpanzees and orang-utans found that two-year-old children have social learning skills superior to the apes, the researchers said.
In one social learning test, a researcher showed the children and apes how to pop open a plastic tube to get food or a toy contained inside. The children observed and imitated the solution.
Chimpanzees and orang-utans, however, tried to smash open the tube or yank out the contents with their teeth.

Kids intelligence vs monkeys?

Huh?
Duh:………. definition:
1 — used to express actual or feigned ignorance or stupidity
2 — used derisively to indicate that something just stated is all too obvious or self-evident
Websters
It seems that stating the bleeding obvious has alas….. become acceptable and hey…even respectable.
Another ahem “study”, to be published in some obscure” scientific” journal with loads of statistical analysis no doubt.

Did anyone ponder if these ahem..”pearlz of wisdom” were even worth the time, effort and cost of the research.
No offense guyz n dollz but what ain’t worth studyin, simply ain’t worth studyin. Kids vs monkeys?..Huh?

Ya catch what I’m pitchin here?
Oh wait.
Perhaps I should conduct yet another meaningless study to examine the meaninglessness of meaningless studies eh. Ha.
Should I apply for a grant? ![]()
Far be it from lil ole me to belittle um…er…”research”…
But howzabout researchers tell us something we didn’t know……just for a change of pace.. mmkay?

Spare us the self-evident, the painfully apparent, the unequivocal, the barefaced……..the obvious……um……..the duh factor.

Let’s brainstorm friends.
Ideas for research studies:
![]()
-Do hair straighteners really straighten your hair?
-Does wearing a helmet decrease an athlete’s chance of gettin hurt when struck in the head by a ball?

Any ideas friends?
I patiently await the stunning breakthroughs, o.k., I’ll settle for at least an unexpected insight or two.
Will the researchers discover new planets, …….new species..Hmmm.
I’ll take the ridiculously, apparent Obvious for 500 Alex. ![]()
Well, fret not sweet friends……….There are even research studies claiming that nearly all claimed research findings are false.
Ya think?
Like No wayyyyyyy, man.

Liberals constantly bestialize mankind. At least those scientists have proved that no, humans and animals, are not the same.

Great blog! I swear some people have the common sense of monkeys. There are too many things and people out there that need the word Duh! Maybe we could just get one of those stick notes and slap it on their forehead. It would kill two birds with one stone. Submit them with the duh factor and knock some sense into them!
September 9th, 2007 at 10:12 pm
LOL I love that saying, about the monkey.. its an insult LOL.
Oh well hope you’re having fun.

Have a great week, Angel!

Angel,
I am back from summer home which has no internet. No tv for that matter. Heard a quote you might enjoy…
“Men are like grapes. They can be sweet but usually you have to stomp on them to make them into an enjoyable dinner companion.
Cheers,
Brad

In 1969, Neil Armstrong famously said, upon putting his foot on the surface of the moon, “That’s one small step for me, and a giant leap for mankind”. Nearly 40 years and the world is the same as it ever was. 2001 was supposed to be the year of the Space Odissey, but instead it turned out to be the year of you know exactly what (now in its sixth anniversary).
I have no problem with the Theory of Evolution; I accept it, and I don’t think it’s something to waste time and energy on, because I consider that issue (of the interpretation of Genesis chapters 1 to 11 inclusive) a non-critical one (as opposed to others, such as the archeology regarding the Exodus and the conquest of the Land of Israel). But I have a problem with scientific fundamentalists weaving all manner of far-fetched social theories from it. That was the root of some dark ideologies just last century.

One more study to add to your list, Angel - Men are more likely to marry a woman that is attractive! DUH!
This one certainly points out the fact that someone needs to quit handing out money for stupid studies that are really not attempting to provide any kind of benefit to mankind. Probably our tax dollars at work!!!

Just keep dumbing down the public school system and try again in a few years. The results will be different as new “parents” stop teaching their kids at a young age and leave everything to the government.
September 10th, 2007 at 8:12 am
“But howzabout researchers tell us something we didn’t know…”
“Science” is nothing more than a political agenda
September 10th, 2007 at 8:15 am
Is there no end to inane research?
September 10th, 2007 at 8:51 am
Hey good post with great points. The insanity never ends. Guess if it did hun we would have nothing to write about!
September 10th, 2007 at 10:24 am
What a colossal waste of money.
September 10th, 2007 at 11:48 am
You’ve just got to love liberal science. The claim that liberals’ brains are superior to conservatives, and then go on to tell us that, amazingly, our children are actually smarter than monkeys.
I think I’m insulted…
September 10th, 2007 at 1:12 pm
Heres a good one for ya….. an article I just read… “Diet and exercise are the key to weight loss”. Good one!
September 10th, 2007 at 2:09 pm
lol!! The cartoon about monkey and insults vs. science… i have to snag that one, angel!!!
September 10th, 2007 at 2:57 pm
We need some lightheartedness Ange. I’m very frustrated today after listening to the Lefties spear General Petraeus.
September 10th, 2007 at 3:13 pm
Wait a minute..”We sent a chimp up in a space ship but never a toddler-Maybe chimps are smarter ” ? I’m thinking that was the thesis statement that started the study.
September 10th, 2007 at 3:33 pm
LOL! It makes one wonder, Angel, if the researchers are smarter than monkeys. Maybe someone should do a study on that!
September 10th, 2007 at 3:44 pm
Proud and disgusted at the same time….
Is it possible to be both disgusted and proud of our government at the same time? That’s exactly how I feel right now, listening to the American Congress, General David Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan Crocker. We have storms with lightning,…
September 10th, 2007 at 5:34 pm
Please keep in mind that this study employed scientists that would otherwise be on the dole.
It does serve a useful purpose…
September 10th, 2007 at 6:56 pm
Hey Angel…is that ALL children and ALL monkeys…cause i have definitely meet some children and some monkeys that might give these results a test!!…..sort of like the road sign..”SLOW MEN WORKING”, and they never finish…WHY????????
September 10th, 2007 at 7:36 pm
Chimps don’t become smarter than humans until liberalism sets in.
September 10th, 2007 at 8:25 pm
Hey Angel,
The thing is how can I get bunches of money to study something ith n obvious conclusion? If our elected government is going to waste our money anyway, how about wasting it in my direction? Maybe I can get money to study why its hot in the summer and cold in the winter and say that I’ll blame global warming. That will get me some cash for certain.
September 10th, 2007 at 8:27 pm
I don’t know. I had some kids in my fifth grade classes that I am pretty sure were not on the same level as an amoeba.
September 10th, 2007 at 8:47 pm
who would fund such a dumb study? What a waste of time!
September 10th, 2007 at 8:54 pm
sooooooo, they’re still looking for that missing link and we can now eliminate small children?
September 10th, 2007 at 11:26 pm
LOL..great comments people!
Lets do a study of our own..Heh!
September 11th, 2007 at 9:14 am
I think the worst part is, someone probably paid a lot of money for this study.
I have a feeling that the researchers involved have never had kids.
September 11th, 2007 at 9:47 am
Unfortunately, I think this sort of thing is quite intentional — many people have a vested interest in keeping people stupid. Studies like this put into the mind that we might not be very smart — which sticks.

In Swedish researchers claim that men are damaging the environment more than women. Seems they drive more and eat more red meat. I figure the Swedes should relax: ain’t no men left in Sweden.
Mebbe just monkeys?
September 12th, 2007 at 10:26 am
Sorry! That should say “In related news, Swedish researchers claim that men are damaging the environment more than women. Seems they drive more and eat more red meat. I figure the Swedes should relax: ain’t no men left in Sweden.
Mebbe just monkeys?
