Cox & Forkum’s Farewell Tour

Cox and Forkum: The Final Bow

Look at the toon my friends. Brought tears to me brown eyes.

Bullet holes in the curtains………
Knives that are embedded in the stage.
What appears to be rotten fruit lying amidst the flowers.
Yet, the gentleman wearing the Uncle Sam hat bows gracefully.
What a class act finale.
For me…………It says it all.

They explain their departure.
Allen’s Take:

Let me start by saying that quitting editorial cartooning has been one of my toughest decisions. Having such a creative outlet for expressing my opinions is immensely satisfying. It’s an art form I’ve admired for decades, so I do not take lightly having the opportunity to work in the medium and to have that work seen by others.

One of my proudest moments came soon after 9/11 when I held in my hands our first published cartoon. It was easy to feel useless, even helpless, in the weeks and months following the attacks. But to be able to fight in the battle of ideas was empowering.

I also want to stop focusing so much of my creative energy on negative aspects of daily life. There’s still an ideological battle to be fought, not to mention an actual war, and I will stay engaged in some form and medium. But at this point, anything seems more appealing than immersing myself in the sewer of daily politics.

That said, I imagine we won’t be able to resist creating an occasional editorial cartoon. And if we do, we’ll post it here.

John’s Take:
HEY! THERE’S NO CRYING IN CARTOONING!

As you may already have heard, Allen Forkum and I have hung up our spurs over at Cox and Forkum.com. You can read in detail the whys and wherefors of our decision but be assured…..I’m still kickin’. I’ve got lots to do here and you haven’t seen NUTHIN’ yet…..
For all of those who have been aware of our work for the last few years, thank you for the encouragement you’ve so generously given. We’ve enjoyed the ride.

My Take:

Absolutely impossible act to follow friends.

With a heavy heart I wish Allen and John infinite blessings on their departure.

Soldiers in the ideological battle are laying down their weapons…for now.
A voice, our voice, expressed through their unparalleled brilliant Art.

Hard core Lefty moonbats are going to be hitting the koolaid hard and partyin upon their departure…now that’s a testimonial if ever there was one!

It seems the attack on us on 9-11 has brought alot of us together.

And blogging about Political stuff or not I still enjoy coming in here to relax a bit :-)

I think all of us have to take a break from Politics now and again.

I tend to agree with Allen’s comment – “I also want to stop focusing so much of my creative energy on negative aspects of daily life.” So often, I find myself trying to avoid some of the rhetoric and focus on the facts instead.

  16. Defiant_Infidel says:

“…at this point, anything seems more appealing than immersing myself in the sewer of daily politics.”

A move of self preservation. I understand most completely.

My first thought was “But you two can’t quit now, at such a critical time… WE NEED YOU!”

Upon more introspection, though, I recognize very similar tendencies from within myself. Lately, I watch… I roar… and yet I don’t write. I have seen this trend in many of you strong patriots whom I read often, too. I don’t know how many times now I have had this same analysis conversation with a very dear friend. It is a pure, glaring fact that it is very wearing and personally intrusive to rant incessantly against the machine of liberal devaluation. The specter of what we as Conservative traditionalists see bearing down upon us is disturbing to the point of almost total preoccupation.

Thus I allow myself needed breaks in my criticisms… a battery recharging period of sorts. Given the huge, impacting toons that C & F have given us faithfully for so long, and keeping in mind the felt responsibility and conviction that must be present within these fine people to make such contributions… hopefully it is but a needed “rest” for them that will only prove temporary.

How long will they be able watch what comes and remain silent??

Would The World Will Be Better Off If The U.S. Loses War?

Wow what a question! Who or what American citizen would even ask a
    offensively, shameless question like that?
Well, apparently it’s not such a unusually or extreme question to ask. It may seem like a ridiculous question to you of me, but, on September 25 thru the 26th a poll of 900 registered voters was taken and the result was that 11 percent of Americans think the world would be “better off” if the U.S. lost the war, and 73 percent disagreed Ah but I’m saving the most interesting part for last.
Nearly 1 in every 5 Democrats Said that the World Will Be Better Off if the United States Loses War. That came to Nineteen (19) percent of the Democracies polled. Could you believe it/ I never had any doubts about it, but i never thought the percentage would be that large.
How Can we expect to ever win this thing when such a large percentage of our population thinks that way? Is this what they call supporting our troops? Is that what those yellow ribbons on the cars mean?
Is this what we can expect with Hillary of Obama? I can imagine that it is. My mental image of either one of those two in power is that the American Flag that waved over the White House would be replaced by a White Flag.
Yesterday I read that Obama won’t wear an American Flag on his suit. His exact words were and i quote!
“I decided I won’t wear that pin on my chest, instead I’m going to try to tell the American people what I believe will make this country great. Hopefully that will be a testimony to my patriotism.”
“That pin?” Is that what he calls a symbol of America? “That Pin?” Humm, verry interesting. I wonder if he calls a pin of the Muslim Stars “that pin”?
I wonder if the reasoning behind that group of Americans saying the world would be “better off” if the U.S. lost the war, is so that the Dims would have the election locked up in that case?
