“OuR Military” OpenTrackback Weekend
If a soldier, sailor, airman, or Marine in Iraq were to receive an anonymous care package or letter of support, who likely would have been its sender: a liberal or a conservative?
Chances are you said the latter. But why? Why are conservatives and Republicans seemingly more supportive of our troops than liberals?
It’s a good question.
Why Do Conservatives Love the Military?1-The military sees a clear line between good and evil.
The minute you start thinking that there’s no such thing as good and evil, right and wrong, it’s virtually impossible to support an organization like the military.2-Veterans view themselves as servants, not victims.
3. The military stresses hard work, self-discipline, and personal responsibility.
4-Service members understand that freedom is not free.
5-The military shoots guns. Lots of guns.
Semper Fi.
Booyah!
Here’s To all our soldiers who may have caught a bullet, trying to save a friend.
To those whose names are on a wall…….We have not forgotten thee.
To those in faraway lands who lie awake fighting loneliness, after signing up for yet another “tour”.
For the ones fighting the silent battles, with no limelight shinging upon their heroism.
Some march, some fly, some sail.
I’ve worked with soldiers returning from Iraq, and trust me sweet friends…If ever we find ourselves in danger, with our enemies at hand, our everyday soldier has “got our back.”
Bear in mind……
A revolution was once fought to secure our Liberty. A Constitution, was once penned as a shield from tyranny.
And while our public servants refuse to uphold the solemn oath they swore, our soldiers do– forever more.
Thank you for protecting our freedom’s paradise.
Our country.
Where the air is chock-full of sunlight and our flag is full of stars.

A beautiful post, Angel! I will have a musical tribute up to our soldiers on Sunday. I hope you will watch it. You may shed a tear or two, or more, but it’s worth it.
We conservatives and our military have at least got each other. We who believe in God also have Him. What do the moonbats have? Themselves? Now there’s a deal I wouldn’t want!

The first thing I want to say is, this is an excellent post. I comment UHhuh…..This is my weapon…….This is my gun. This is for hunting, this is for fun……No disrespect meant….Merely, stating a looooonnnnngggg military history of the difference between the two……Gun and weapon……You have a good knowledge of the military mind and how they think….A breed apart. Most of them learn very fast what patriotism is. After basic training it is instilled in them and stays with them forever. When they see the flag, which they fought for, desecrated, and people not stainding for the Star Spangled Banner. It angers and hurt them to the core….These are some of the things they are fighting to protect along with our individual freedoms that we enjoy daily. You post a good tribute to our military personnel.
As Faith without works is dead, so dies freedom without responsibility. ,,,,I ramble…stay well

[...] November 10, 2001- We get our first sight of Virgina, and what a sight it was. We were greeted as heroes. Tugboats and firefighting boats greeted us with sprays of water from the deck nozzles and smaller boats came up with flags waving to see us in to the harbor. I volunteered to man the rails, so in my dress blues, a stood along the edge of the flight deck and the tugs pushed us into the berth. There were thousands and thousands of screaming people on the pier, all wanting to greet us and celebrate our return. We were heroes to these people. It was good to be home. Please take some time out to visit Angel’s post honoring the men and women of our Armed Forces and express your thanks. Published in: [...]

But, the conduct of the average military serviceman or -woman is so much better than what we sometimes receive from civilian contractors. You should see my latest post — it’s only the tip of the iceberg.
Great post, Angel. Keep up the good work.

This is a really beautiful post. I’ve always considered myself a liberal, but I’ve been pretty disgusted by the way that the left, especially the Democratic party, is just sticking it to the Army.
They say that they “support the men but not the mission,” but if they refuse to fund the military, give moral support to the enemy, and keep announcing that the US has lost, or will pull out by such-and-such date, they’re not even supporting the men.
Somewhere there needs to be a line between the poles of social liberalism, outright treason, and frontal lobotomy….

I haven’t yet managed to get to grips with trackbacks and other bloggy bits, but the idea that ‘care package’ givers adopt a particular political perspective may be over reaching.
I might be wrong, but I think you may find that there are also a few foreigners and aliens that are similarly motivated. [even without the privilege of a vote]
Best wishes

Great Post Angel
God bless ALL our Service men and women all over the world.
And just a little note, if you think that when you send a care package to someone in Uniform that you dont know, and question whether it reaches them or not, they do!
When my son came home from the Army (He entered just before 9-11), he brought home all kinds of goodies that he had no clue who sent them
He treasured all the gifts and goodies and I naturally put them all in my curio cabinet with all his ribbons
I enjoyed them too.

Everytime you get frustrated with speaking out against the onslaught of surrender, think how easy our job is compared to that of the soldier fighting on the front lines… bereft of such a disturbing portion of our population’s support. Don’t give up and be a part of the capitulation.
Stand up, speak and never give up.
