Modesty in the WorkPlace

How many years, decades have passed since the emergence of “feminism”?

Men and women now rage..”Women should have the right to wear whatever the heck they want!”

No doubt.

Does that elucidate why it is that women in top jobs, in highly responsible positions, are now routinely exposing their chests, which seem to be bursting out of their blouses?

Since when is highlighing your sexuality “empowering”?
If a woman puts too much emphasis on her body and sexuality at work, she will most likely be dismissed as shallow, unintelligent and manipulative. And rightly so.
If you make your appearance the main issue, that is what you will be judged on.

We are not the same.

Men are wired to notice womens anatomy. Unlike women, they are extremely affected by body parts.
Having a woman’s chest sticking out of her blouse serves as a distraction…..which is of course it’s purpose to begin with.

But is that what we want from people at work…to be distracted from the task at hand?

Expose your chest and one thing is for certain……Mens’ eyes and attention will be drawn not to your eyes, not to your mouth to hear your words of “wisdom”, but exaclty where you want them to be drawn if you expose your flesh.

Women have finally become integrated into the work force.

In the not too distant past, women had to fight horrific unfairness, incessant sexual harassment and tried desperately to keep s-ex out of the workplace.

Now, they invite, defend and contribute to the po-rnification of music, dance, the arts, sports and yes……….the workplace.

Exactly where did the message emerge that dressing to appear as nothing but a piece of eye candy is somehow remotely “professional”?

Spare me the naiivete shpeil please.
It’s deceitful, devious and disingenuous to pretend, … that when a woman gets up in the morning and puts on a low cut blouse or very form fitting dress, she is unaware of the affect it will have on men.

Professional men know that “clothes do make the man” and what they wears matters…alot.

Thugs and hard core criminals are even forced into wearing suits for their “day in court”, are they not.

Young girls have been pressured and indoctrinated that despite their musical, athletic, or intellectual talent, they must wear skin tight clothing, transparent shirts or miniskirts..because, after all…….they are girls.
Celebrate their se-xuality. Sure…take off more……..and more……..and more.
And start when they are younger, younger and …..younger.

After all the new model of female se-xuality comes from po-rn-ography itself , which we are told is “fine and hurts no one.”
Strip clubs, which were once taboo, are now normalized.
Girls are to be seen..slithering on poles; her role is to excite, and perform, like chimpanzees – for men.

This is power?

Clothing conveys messages. Profound ones.

If they didn’t, fathers wouldn’t worry about their young girls sporting hot pants, or skin tight sweaters when in the presence of their teenage boyfriend with the raging hormones.

Then of course, there are men, who will never argue for women to be modest, no matter the cost to women, to themselves, to marriage, to society …..or to God himself.

Clea-vage means “the state of being split “.
I say women who reveal it in public are split…….They are split off from the self respecting, sacred, spiritual part of themselves.

What say Y’all?

It’s been about 24 years since females caught my attention, was 13 back then. Fast forward to now and not much has changed and I gotta tell all that woman who expose “their chests” and/or wear very revealing and scanty pieces don’t really do it for me. I’m drawn to the mystery of it all, hence corporate clothing of a professionally conservative nature is preferable anyday. Finally, I know a number of guys who would agree with me and many that don’t. Nice posting!

Well since you ask! The womens rights movement in our wester culture has its roots in 19th century England for the most part as privileged upper middle class girls were indulged with access to higher education. It did not happen often that a girl would be allowed more than a private tutelage under an adept teacher… but it only took a few to get the ball rolling. Coincidently … this was also the age that spawned the popularity of socialist idealism among the well heeled and educated of Europe.

Now that’s all well and good except that we are well past the point where the so called “progressive” ideas of the 1800′s can rightfully be considered either modern or progressive. It’s also well past the point where the obvious failures and weaknesses of these ideologies should be obvious to anyone with more than minimal intelligence and far past the time where blind acceptance of or adherence to the dogma of such intransigent fools should be tolerated.

next time someone tries to impress you by showing how progressive they are just let them know that the 19th AND the 20th centuries are OVER.

    It’s time to grow up!

Got here a little late because of technical problems caused by my ISP, but I guess late is better than never!

I watch Fox News, as most of us conservatives do, and they are just as guilty as the rest. Some of the women that work at Fox News look like their boobs are going to pop out of the tops of their dresses any second. I know that grabs the attention of those with prurient interest, but it’s truly gone too far! It seems very weird to me that when the skirts go higher, the neckline goes higher, and when the skirts get longer the neckline gets shorter. It’s like they have to expose something or they just can’t call themselves women. Funny that men don’t feel pressured to show off their body parts. Suits and ties, suits and ties, suits and ties. Hey guys, where’s the skin? (Just kidding. Please stick to the suits and ties!)

  45. Defiant_Infidel says:

When I was a 14 year old kid, the mother of my girlfriend made a comment to me that I will always remember… She asked me what I expected to find more exciting if and after a woman appeared scantilly clad before me. I had to think a bit about her question… her daughter was a naturally beautiful, very buxom and blossoming young lady. This was not the question I would have ever anticipated, especially from her!

At first, my youthful mind wondered if she was somehow suggesting that this would be appropriate dress for her daughter. Her daughter always had dressed with great modesty and taste. The excitement of considering how her daughter might appear immediately filled my mind and made me go dreamy to visualize it.

As I paused, and considered my ‘mind movie’, she asked what I was thinking about. Redfaced, I couldn’t help but be honest, but soon became very glad that I was…

She followed up by saying something very close to the this:

“Doesn’t this illustrate to you the exciting power of respect and mystery? My daughter has never appeared this way before you… and she won’t ever as anything less than an adult woman and perhaps your future wife. I have raised her with that value and she is committed to it. You love her for who she is and what she may become in your eyes. What you wonder about, what you envision as her naked or near naked is far more powerful than something she might otherwise casually share, visibility-wise, with everyone in general through inappropriate dress. That makes her much, much more desirable, more prized and valued than she could ever be if she did not retain that air of mystery. Because she is not “easy” and carefully dresses to appear otherwise, there is an implied dignity and poise that other girls cannot convey. Have you ever considered what power she wields by displaying her modesty, rather than her skin? Have you ever considered why you pursue her and not one of the “easy” ones?”

Men cannot remove, only control (or not), their natural inclination for desire and lust. God (like it or not secularists) included that in the male parts build list. It guaranteed survival of the species and helped to motivate other essential survival characteristics, like hunting for food and protecting their family unit. We can, however, think with something other than ‘the smaller head’.

Women can dramatically assist that goal and force us to consider more than just the sexual aspect of the male-female relationship… if they so choose. That behavior will help foster a healthy and complete relationship, rather than one that crests in a rush of lust and then quickly subsides in an unsatisfied state of monotony and disinterest.

Men (and women) often wonder why the ‘energy’ in their relationship seems to quickly become lackluster. It so frequently culminates in wandering attention to the next object of brief, fleeting physical infatuation… again and again and again the process and pattern (along with all its crippling, destructive and hurtful effects) repeats itself. It is a tough, painful way to stumble through the gift of life.

It is also not a mandatory behavior. Control and discipline are ours to employ if we choose to do so. That is why God also fitted us up with the ‘larger head’, too.

Another tremendous and deep post. Do you ever write something that is merely average??? Have a wonderful weekend, Hot Rod!

It’s more difficult to find pretty and modest apparel, but saying it’s not out there at all is just a copout.

  62. Mustang says:

This is a typically excellent post, Angel. The issue of appropriateness, however, goes far beyond how people present themselves in public. Television commercials are now addressing things that used to cause some embarrassment when I was a young person — things that were considered very personal. No one ever imagined selling such things on the public air waves — everything from condoms to vaginal ointments, from diarrhea medications to adult diapers, and now (gasp) male enhancement vitamins. There is nothing that is inappropriate anymore — and I find something very wrong with that because the messages being sent to young people who are exposed to normal advertising encourages the kind of promiscuity that good parents are trying to prevent. There is no longer any mysticism associated with what we used to regard as personal and private behavior. So I am not surprised that there is a cleavage problem in the work place, only that after exposing a portion of their breasts, women complain about inappropriate advances by male co-workers and the fact that “we” are aghast when company CEOs are found fooling around with their employees.
