Fashion for Men..woop!

Once the gentlemen’s scarf was just draped sadly round the neck, barely visible beneath the buttoned-up overcoat – unless its owner was Rupert Bear or Dr Who.

But metrosexual man has put a stop to that. He’s wrapping and twisting and looping with abandon. And it’s nothing to do with the cold.

Suddenly the debate has exploded: “Just what is the right way for a man to wear a scarf?”
How should men wear a scarf?

“Is knotting too feminine? People will just have to take a view depending on the person.”

Ah. Fashion for men.

Every time a woman leaves off something she looks better, but every time a man leaves off something he looks worse.

I hate those flip-flop things, we call them beach thongs, most people in Australia wear them, men and women. They really get up my nose, such lazy and useless footwear. Imagine you suddenly have to run for your life or something like that, you can’t do that in bloody flip-flops.

The other thing is men who wear their pants around their thighs, same thing as the flip-flops, if i had my way i’d have the lot of them flogged, so it’s a good thing i don’t have my way. Yeah, there are too many damn metrosexual pansies around now.

You know those ladies hanging around in malls handing out lotion samples and such, until a few years ago, when a guy walks past they wouldn’t bother him, now we’re all getting damn lotions and things pushed at us, thank you metrosexual pansies.

Oops, I don’t know how my link got in there twice. Sorry about that Angel.
Nice little post here on metrosexuals etc. But my taste tends to run to the rugged, outdoorsy type. The kind I like would no more wear a twisty Arctic tuck scarf than a pink tutu. But to each his/her own, I guess. ;)

I can’t put creams on my face, I shave my head to avoid a comb over, but I do have the bluetooth only when I drive (a stick and round-a-bouts do not mix well and for tech work) but I am very boring in my clothing.

“Every time a woman leaves off something she looks better, but every time a man leaves off something he looks worse.”

Ok, THAT is not a quote I have come to expect on YOUR blog, Young Lady! You go to your room and give some thought to just how inappropriate that was!

I subscribe to the jeans and t-shirt brigade, although I do wish to receive credit for advancing my theme to t-shirts with colors other than simply black a few years ago. What can I say? I view it as some sort of divine epiphany!

For warmth, I prefer the camo neck gator to any scarfery thingies… The camo bandana also makes a comfortable necktie when required. And black leather work boots (or cowboy boots with cockroach-in-the-corner crushing pointy toes for those sacred formal (floral?) occasions). I do actually own and occasionally operate a set of naked hoof sandals… they are the winterized type, however, as is evidenced by the orange flame imprints in the hoof saddles. (Come on… it is Maine afterall!! Summer sandals are only useful for about three days in late July!)

What I still grapple with, however, is the possibility that my black leather belt accoutrements (multi-tool, miniature Maglite and fixed blade hunting knife) might be somehow construed as “jewelry” of sorts. God, that is a disconcerting notion, indeed!
