DesigneR Bandaids Indeed
WHEN Nicholas James Brown prepares to go out for cocktails at the Tribeca Grand or to a clambake in the Hamptons, he sticks on a few boldly patterned Band-Aids by the Brazilian fashion designer Alexandre Herchcovitch.
To Mr. Brown, 24, who works at Esquire magazine in New York, the colorful strips are an important accessory, and he’s careful to coordinate them with his Kris Van Assche sweater or his Balenciaga bag. He generally wears one on his left hand or arm and balances it out with two or three on his right leg.He doesn’t put them on his face because, he said, “I don’t want people thinking, ‘What happened?’ ” And if anyone does ask what he’s done to himself to need all of those bandages?
“I’ll lie and say, ‘I have a cut,’ ” he said.
It’s No Boo-Boo: Bandages as Fashion Accessories
Mr. Herchcovitch’s designs for the Band-Aid brand hit the shelves of Opening Ceremony in New York and Los Angeles last month. Within a week, 120 boxes sold out, at $10 each.
Heck. Treat those minor cuts, scrapes and scratches in style!
Purdy bandaids. They’re not just for kids anymore.
Leave it to the Fashionistas to ensure that your cuts won’t be embarrassed to leave the house this summer.
Are there any trends emerging in marketing that folks just won’t go along with?
Then again, why heal those little wounds with those old sanitary looking band-aids when you got fashion, striped, neon or plaid bandages?
How about these for the guys eh? Heh.
CSI anyone?
Just in time for the Olympics. Ha.
So forget all about those pesky gladiator sandal induced blisters…get a matching bandaid and you’re good to go.
And most of all, don’t forget to match them up with your spankin brand new “environmentally healthy” shirt or jeans with their healthy percentages of organic cotton, hemp, and bamboo of course.
What say Y’all?

I wonder if this trend started due to all the women who like to cut themselves and had to wear band-aids afterwards.
This is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. These people have too much money and too much time for their own good.

Oh this is too much Angel LOL

“I am stuck on band-aids because Band-aids stick on me!” I sang that song all through your post. I have to admit, we buy the cute ones. If it makes the oooey better (and stops the wailing), I’ll spend the moo-lah.

I call them boo-boos. And my kids had the “My Little Pony” ones when they were little.

i’ve been wearing them for about 20 years – i love all the varieties – our daughter does also, but for pop and son, it’s the old flesh colored ones as kevin states – they’re not for guyz!
sometimes i’ll wear one just because it matches what i’m wearing! love’em.
August 15th, 2008 at 11:09 pm
some of those are pretty fancy. The kiddies do love designs on their booboos, but ‘designer’ baind-aides? Not so sure about that, probably cost too much.
August 15th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
What next? what a waste of money, imho.
August 15th, 2008 at 11:59 pm
OK I have to say those are the coolest band-aids I have ever seen! I am going outside right now and hurling myself on the sidewalk so I can go get one…better yet I will deliberately fall off my bike. I am a sucker for pretty anything! yes even band-aids and these are awesome! I want the pretty flowered ones. for real.

LOL! I buy the plain old-fashioned ones, Angel. It is my thinking that they work just as well. They are intended to protect a wound and help stop the bleeding. That’s all I ask from a bandaid.
