Fall Food…Mmmmmm

Ah…………Fall.
Okay. I know. I’m a tad late. Been too busy frettin n fussin bout the election. Pfftt.
Take a peek outside. Are there more leaves off your trees than on?

Are ya sneakin your toesies into those cozy slippers or socks at night?

Is it getting dark on your way home from work already?

The dead giveaway: Cranberry sauce and pumpkin spice up and down the aisles at the supermarket.

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.
(Albert Camus)
Want a real treat on a cool Autumn night?
Try this:
Hot Cranberry Cider
Mmmmmmmmm.

Grab yourself:
6 cups of apple cider
5 cups Cranberry Juice
3 tablespoons of brown sugar
3-4 cinnamon sticks
1 1/2 teaspoons whole cloves
and 3/4 lemon, thinly sliced
Combine the apple cider, cranberry juice, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, lemon slices and cloves.
Bring them all to a boil.
Reduce the heat, and simmer for 15 minutes.
Remove the cinnamon, cloves, and lemon slices .
Serve it hot, hot hot.
Yummmmmm.
Sooooooooo………..What’s your favorite fall food sweet friends?
Chestnuts?
Crisp, tart, Apples?
Or um….cake, ice-cream..and chocolate?

Ahhh…Fall and WomanHonorThySelf.
I just visited a Canadian blog who hates Bush, bemoaned the wish to be an American so she could participate in the election of a lifetime, hates the Republican Party…blah, blah, frickin’ blah.
Glad to read yours.
It always educates and enlightens.
Thanks so much. Just wanted to say that.
Fall food? Baked sweet potatoe fries.
Have a fabulous weekend Angel.

Hi Angel, I’m sobered up now:( Not really, I just was to depressed to blog for a few days. My leaves are all on the ground, every last one of them. The cranberry cider sounds delish, I grabbed the recipe. Thanks. Guess we’ll have to regroup and get some seats back in 2010. It should be easy once the country sees what a BIG MISTAKE they made! Talk about buyers remorse, but sorry, store policy–no returns and no refunds.

Pumpkin pie.
Pumpkin bread.
Mixed nuts.
Hot buttered rum.
Logs burning in the fireplace.
Sweaters.
Jackets.
Turning leaves.
and
the treat of the Pacific Northwest…
Rain.
Yes indeed, fall is here and I’m enjoying it immensely. I’ll have to try the cider recipe, although I can only drink small amounts of it because of all the sugar in the juices.

what a lovely post.. something we all need! Love that cider recipe!

Hi girlfriend, Love the leaves crunching under my feet, the colors, cinnamon buns, sweet potato casserole. Apples with cinnamon and butter melt. Your cider sound yummy.
Thanks for such refreshing today. Me head hurts from too many negative thoughts. Yes it is Fall, soon Thanksgiving.
Hugs

Thanks Angel, a welcome distraction from the daily false-messiah worship we can’t see to escape.

Great pictures! What I disliked most about fall is that it is followed by winter. Maybe Obama can do something about that.
November 7th, 2008 at 8:40 am
Your not late, you’re 11 months early! Happy Halloween.
November 7th, 2008 at 9:15 am
Mmmmm… I love it all. The leaves, the food, the air.
Roasted sweet potatoes. Putting the oven to use again after the hot summer, baking bread, aromatherapy candles, long soaks in the tub, stoking up the fireplace, my comfy down comforter.
Perfect outdoor activity for right now, especially with kids: Jack-o-lantern baseball. We take our old jack-o-lanters or sad little gords, put on the rain jacket and go out to play some baseball with them. We can get our all our election frustrations out while we compost. LOL!

Take the US 60 east out of Phoenix, go past Duncan, AZ just across the NM border to Verdin, NM where they grow the best chile’s on earth! Sept/Oct is when the crop is due pick some green chile’s take ‘em home and roast ‘em. Hell, you don’t even have to eat them, I guarantee your home will smell delicious!

The Mrs. takes a pumpkin and cooks/boils it in a mixture of water and brown sugar for a few hours, when done, bring it to room temp, take a few scoops into a tall glass, fill with milk, stir it up and you’ll have a delicious snack….very sweet and tasty.

So why the 78% vote for Obama? To the casual observer it would seem logical that Jewish voters would have overwhelmingly supported John McCain for President.

Now if we could only find a way of converting those millions of oak (four species) tulip, and black cherry leaves in my yard to energy we could tell the terrorists east to fight their wars without our oil money.
The worse leaves I have to deal with are the gazillions of pine needles (don’t ever call them evergreens -they shed tons every fall) that don’t blow away so easily and slow down the other leaves from blowing.
I sort of miss those Gypsy moths that used to keep the trees naked.
