Happy BirthdaY Marines!

LAKE FOREST, Calif. — A half-dozen off-duty Marines who raced through a burning motel on Sunday warning sleeping guests that it was on fire were hailed as lifesaving heroes.

Everyone escaped the Americas Best Value Inn motel, including one elderly man who required oxygen after he was carried to safety by one of the Marines…
Marine Pvt. Colton Oliver said he and two colleagues were walking along a second-floor landing about 8 a.m. when they saw flames and smoke.

They rousted their fellow Marines and all six began knocking on doors and windows of rooms, urging people to leave.

“Everybody was out by the time the firefighters got here,” Oliver said. “It’s what we’re trained to do.”

Amy Amadito-Phelps said she and her husband and 14-month-old son were sleeping in a room near the flames when they were awakened. She said the Marines saved their lives.

The finest fighting machine the world has ever known.

Lesse now, was the brand, spankin new president-elect ever a Marine?
Oh right, he was a “Community Organizer”. Oooops.

From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli!

Marines are the best — well, among the best anyway. My brother would say Army is the best. My friend Russell on the other hand would say Marines.

Well, our veterans of whatever service are the best!

    Great tribute Angel.

Things will happen out of sight and slowly for some while as the veneer of normalcy is maintained in key areas.

There are only two kinds of people that understand Marines: Marines and the enemy. Everyone else has a second-hand opinion.

They told (us) to open up the Embassy, or “we’ll blow you away.” And then they looked up and saw the Marines on the roof with these really big guns, and they said in Somali, “Igaralli ahow,” which means “Excuse me, I didn’t mean it, my mistake”.

I believe you get the idea….THANK YOU MARINES….

Nice, Angel… I just got mail today from a dear Marine buddy of mine sharing thoughts about their birthday and Veterans Day:

“The United States Marine Corps was fighting for our freedom even before we declared ourselves a country which set the standard for the armed forces that followed.”

Between your post and his words… kinda says it all, doesn’t it? ;)

Great video. There’s nothing like an American soldier. I thank God for them.

  19. Stanford Matthews says:

A number of stories, reports and comments over these few days have reminded me of a need to state this from time to time. A good Bday present from all of us to the Marines as well as all service members would be vigilence not only to matters of protecting America and all that goes with it but to honor the service of veterans by supporting their needs as they arise whether combat related or not.

The least we can do to prove our appreciation for their service is to ensure they are well cared for when needed. My small suggestion is for everyone reading this to contact their elected reps at their earliest convenience and remind them to honor this debt to those who serve now and served anytime.

If tax dollars can pay for pork and earmarks and the long list of outrageous wasteful spending to date, they can certainly pay for health care for veterans.

At least write one letter. Thank you.
