HappY NeW YeaR!!!
Every year as the clock strikes midnight on December 31st, the eyes of this glorious world turn to my City..heh….the brilliant lights, the dynamism…the “happening” that is: Times Square.
Ah……..the Anticipation.
10, 9, 8, 7, 6………..
It’s as if the world is holding its breath…until that clock finally strikes twelve.
Waiting for the “Ball” to descend from atop One Times Square.
Waiting to usher in the hope and promise of the New Year. Woohoo!
Last year I was one of the one million (crazy) people in Times Square, along with literally -millions nationwide and over a billion watching throughout the entire world.
Whether you’re part of a star-studded musical performance down South, tossing balloons up North, shaking pom-poms in the U.K., confetti in Spain, or possibly watching a colorful pyrotechnic display in Australia….
For just one moment, let us feel as though we are truly united.
What a feeling…..
We bid a collective farewell to the past year, and we best pray hard sweet friends, for hope for the coming year.
(And we all know why)
Good riddance to bad karma and bad vibes. Ack!

Great post Angel, great pictures. HAPPY New Year! You were in Times Square last year, wow, you gotta be tough for that. Years ago I saw it from my old office’s windows and balcony on the 27th floor on 44th and Broadway. It was wild, but down below it must be madness. You are brave.

i have visited your city 2 times in my life. once in 2007 and then in 2008. times square is always crazy, even in april…i do not think i could handle it on new year’s eve…have a great 2009!

Mr. AOW and I had a very quiet New Year’s Eve — nothing special. But we did watch the Times Square ball drop.

How cute you looked in your 2008 goggles! Reminds me of the only time I went down to the New Year’s celebration in Times Square back in the early 80’s - I saw a woman get stabbed…Yikes. Things are much better in New York now! (and I’m thankful for that!)
