Researchers found the stress of thinking caused overeating with heavy thinkers seeking out more calories.
Too much thinking ‘can make you fat’After 45 minutes at each activity, participants were invited to eat as much as they wanted from a buffet.
The researchers had already discovered that each session of intellectual work requires only three calories more than the rest period.However, despite the low energy cost of mental work, the students spontaneously consumed 203 more calories after summarizing a text and 253 more calories after the computer tests.
Ha. So that’s the reason!
And here I thought we were all gettin a tad chunkier due to reduced physical activity and eatin twinkies. heh.
Not to mention those pesky vending machines everywhere beckoning with chocolate bars, those bigger portion sizes, and the increased availability of fast-food.
Heck, we’ve even been told that there is now evidence that lack of sleep can be a factor in weight gain.
Is there anything that doesn’t cause weight gain?
Ah. but don’t sweat it..(on second thought..do..) Over 97 million American adults weigh more than they should.
After all, what better way to suppress or soothe negative emotions, such as stress, anger, or even anxiety than with a nice piece of chocolate cake?
OK. ok. ok.
I know I have a Slooooooooooooow metabolism: And a really hard time burning off food.
But hey, I’m not overweight..I’m just too dang short for my weight.
Ha.

If thinking makes you fat then perhaps refraining from thinking should make you skinny. I see no evidence if this in our culture.

And this is why the Government is going to regulate what we eat! So, we don’t have to worry about ourselves anymore, because Big Brother will do it for us. (Rolls eyes)
Geez, is this reasearch bunk. I think ALL the time. I mean I OVER think EVERYTHING and I’m a rail. Maybe let’s take some of this money that’s wasted on stupid research and put it toward our national debt. I mean, just a thought. Guess I’ll go weight myself.

That’s funny because it’s the exact opposite with me. When I am feeling really stressed and I have a lot on my mind, I tend to eat less.

Um, I hate to blow a hole in their theory, Angel my friend, but I’ve known some extremely fat people who haven’t had a heavy thought in their lives. LOL! And since Americans have this fat thing going on and they’re supposed to be heavy thinkers, why did they vote for Obama? Just askin’. LOL!

Thinking too much takes time away from getting exercise, that’s what i think. On the plus side the fatter you are, the more evidence that you’re a great thinker.

i’m thankful to say i’ve never really had to battle weight problems and as i’m 5′8″, a few pounds over my ideal weight isn’t all that bad. exercise is definitely the answer. also approaching my middle 50’s has been detrimental - the weight is shifting…
