Atheists want to remove “So Help me GoD”

WASHINGTON – President-elect Barack Obama wants to conclude his inaugural oath with the words “so help me God,” but a group of atheists is asking a federal judge to stop him.

Atheists want God stricken from inaugural oath

Newdow, who lost a Supreme Court battle to get the words “under God” taken out of the Pledge of Allegiance, has failed in similar challenges to the use of religious words and prayers at President George W. Bush’s inaugurations.

Good Lord.
Here we go again.

If Hussein O. is goin to need anything….it may just be God.

Let’s take a look at his plate:

-Ham-ASS swears to to fight to the death. (We should be so lucky.)
But predictably reject a ceasefire plan. Surprise surprise.

Whaddya say bout that Hussein O.?

-Our “friends” the Pakis have rejected American demands for a crackdown against the jeeeeeeeeehadis and jeehadi organizations who were responsible for the carnage in Mumbai.

Whaddya say bout that Hussein O.?

-Iran is till playin with its nuclear program, continues to develop nuclear weapons, and is not only threatening to annihilate Israel but has threatened to draw America’s 140,000 troops stationed in Iraq with violence if any action is taken to prevent them from playin with their nukes.

Whaddya say bout that Hussein O.?

And along come the the Godless “progressive ” Libs who don’t rely on God, Divine revelation, or any religion for their ahem “values”(do they have any of those?), morals, or policies.

Ah yes, the source of all order and morality for them..is well………..whatever feels good at the moment k.

Amusing how rabidly intolerant these anti God, Lefty “progressives”, who claim to defend the virtue of universal “tolerance” are – when anyone disagrees with their non existent values.

They won’t rest until they get rid of God, banish Him, or heck… maybe even kill Him.
The athiest and their pals at the ACLU did manage to convince the Supreme Court to ban formal prayer and Bible reading from our public schools.

Once they succeeded in tossing God out of our schools, these “secular humanists” went gunning after God anywhere in the public square.

No displaying The Ten Commandments!

The very Ten Commandments, which are essentially the morals and values that just so happen to be the foundation of Western Civilization and jurisprudence for oh..the last 2,000 years or so………..

Since the 1960′s, the “We hate God” Liberals have fought furiously to remove all reference to these God-ordained decrees from schools and courthouses across our Country.

Some of their “We hate God” judges have gone so far as to take swearing on the Bible out of their courtrooms.

Indeed. Eliminate the “So help me God” oaths.

Take “In God We Trust” off of our money.

And most importantly, take that “One Nation, under God” out of the Pledge of Allegiance.

Uh huh. That will solve all our woes.

Let’s see if Hussein O. insists on at least paying lip service to…..um…God.

Maybe the atheist cannot find God for the same reason a thief cannot find a policeman.

A man can no more diminish God’s glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word, ‘darkness’ on the walls of his cell.
C.S. Lewis

There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, “Thy will be done,” and those to whom God says, “All right, then, have it your way.”

People see God every day, they just don’t recognize him.

God will remain in the oath for this time. But in the future they might have their way. What would happen if the SCOTUS did take it out and a future President then said on his or her own: So Help Me God? Would they no longer be the President?

  2. Perri Nelson says:

The oath of office for the President of the United States is spelled out in the Constitution (Article II, section 1)…

Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:–”I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

The words “So help me God” do not appear in the oath as defined by the Constitution. When George Washington was inaugurated, he took the oath of office as directed in the Constitution, and followed it by saying “So help me God.”

It has been a tradition ever since, but the words are not required.

Mr. Newdow obviously has no understanding of American History or tradition. He is a mere fool who has said in his heart “there is no God” and who insists upon erasing all evidence of God from the public square so that he doesn’t have to be confronted by his folly.

It is not an issue for the courts to deal with. It is a personal choice made by each President upon taking the oath. It is a choice reinforced by tradition.

    Mr. Newdow can get stuffed.

I posted about this a couple of weeks ago. The moron did not include NObama as a defendent, in fact he said NObama can say what he wants because it is his right as an individual. He’s an imbecile! Here’s the link to my post on the subject theaverageamericanpartyblogspot.com/2009/01/atheists-file-lawsuit-over-inaugurationhtml

Hehehe the cartoons are funny. Newdow is a jerk. Plain and simple. He doesn’t understand history and he wants to erase history that he doesn’t agree with. That sounds like Holocaust deniers to me. Take out history that you don’t agree with and then teach it in public schools. Scares the hell outta me!

Great post, Angel – funny cartoons and super C.S. Lewis Quotes! So true about the moral vapidness of atheism; it requires nothing but arbitrary judgments.

  6. Randy says:

Re: “so help me God” – Given the President Elect’s views on God, I’m not sure it will make any difference.

  7. Brooke says:

The atheists can jump off a cliff for all I care.

I hope Obama gets a lot of Divine intervention; he’s gonna need it.

  8. Joe Gringo says:

Atheists are a strange group, usually branded by themselves as the intellectual an open minded type…..huh, far from it…..pretty one sided if you ask me.

I like this stance……If there is nothing but Nature, then the universe is the greatest thing that exists. The universe is composed of inorganic matter, energy, and space. If all living things came into existence by spontaneous generation, then every living creature came from inorganic matter, energy, and space. So, if all living creatures were composed of inorganic matter, energy, and space, where did consciousness come from? How did we come to know that we exist, that we are human beings, and that we possess thoughts and desires? It is not conceivable that inorganic matter, energy, and space could possess consciousness. A rock does not know that it exists, light does not know that it travels at 186,000 miles per second, and air does not know that it is composed of many different chemical elements.

I could go on, so if there’s any atheists out there…..look me up.

I love reading your take on the news Angel….this one is one of your MANY best…i completely support the atheists (HA!!!!) i will be removing the word “HELP” from my reactions to THEM…. one last question….according to the dimwits…can i say the word “Dog” if i am facing a mirror????
    {i.e dog/god}

  12. Perri Nelson says:

Newdow “sort of” lost. The judge in the court where he brought his lawsuit refuses to do anything about it before the inauguration. He’s still letting the case go forward, but… not before Obama says “so help me God.”

Now if only we could honestly expect Obama to mean it.

  13. MK says:

    Love the cartoons Angel.

Yes you are right, kick God out of schools and they’ll come after everything else, the beliefs of the majority be damned. Take God out of the public space and they’ll come after you in your homes too.

These angry atheists should pack up and mover over to places like China and Russia or parts of Europe, i hear they’ve progressed beyond Christianity and all that and it’s real swell out there.

  14. atheist from religious family says:

a witty comment proves nothing, that’s for the mere christianity c.s. lewis quote, though a great writer, not a very logical man. we need religion in the US to keep the “lower class” from getting out of control, thanks for spreading the Word! by the way, i am an atheist and am not “anti-god”, i just think we should put MORE RELIGION is schools, how about adding some hinduism and muslim religion. YES!
