Salsa at 80!

This woman is 80 years old.
Talk about yer inspiration eh?

Watch the whole thing….. :)

This should be me!

How many women give up dancing in middle age simply because they are labelled “grannies” and can not even find a partner willing to dance with them.

I personally know many.

Male men seeking partners can be up to 90 years old, but they most often request women partners between the ages of 20-45.

I mean who wants to dance with some shrivelled up, wrinkled hag when they can waltz around with a girl young enough to be their grand-daughter?

After all, women, most especially dancers….are all about the s-ex appeal.

The se-xless “older woman” is the brunt of all sorts of humor in our culture. Go look at some greeting cards if you don’t believe me.

Images of womens’ bodies are literally– everywhere.
Womens’ body parts are used to market just about ..well — everything.

Movies and television actresses must now look younger, thinner, thinner and thinner.
In these difficult economic times, don’t fret about the cosmetic or diet product industries.

They are guaranteed growth and profits, and lots of it.

We don’t even need the many research studies that show how constant exposure to images of young, thin, air-brushed female bodies is associated with subsequent depression, loss of self-esteem and the development of unhealthy eating habits in both girls and women.
It’s common sense.

How many husbands turn to wives and ask the dreaded question:
Do I look fat in this?

This 80 year old dancer is remarkable.
Perhaps the 80 year old, and 70, 60, 50 and 40 year old men will re-consider…and next time…ask a lady such as this :

(but don’t hold your collective breath)

My wife isn’t even close to 80, but she’s managed to convince me to learn to dance. I was always indifferent, but since we’ve taken up Scottish Country Dancing I’ve learned it can be a lot of fun. And it will keep us in shape.

Heck, don’t quote me, but she might even manage to convince me to learn ballroom dancing.

The only Salsa I know is made with tomatoes, hot peppers and onions, Add a mango and you’re really cooking.

I’m only 27 and I can’t salsa. Someone should tell that 80 year old she’s not suppose to be able to do that.

Impressive! Good for that lady, if you can’t run, I guess you can always dance to stay in shape!

She’s wonderful, Angel. I’ve seen her before, not this video but another one. I think she should be an inspiration to all of us. Hey! I’m 67 and still very active. Makes me want to take dancing lessons! :)

But then, I often think about becoming a lawyer so I can do a lot of pro-bono work and drive the local nitwit liberal lawyer out of business. I know I can pass the bar if I study. If he could do it, anyone can! :)

I’m only half her age and I could not do even a side step. (OK I have multiple injuries- but still) I feel like I’m in her age, she looks like she is 20 years younger than me…

    That was cool!

Watching her was such a joy! No wonder she’s 80 and going strong. You could see the happiness and pure enjoyment on her face while she danced. This woman loves life. The lesson here…live life to the fullest and enjoy every minute of it! Thanks for the video, Angel. I love to dance and I think I’m going to take some dancing lessons!

  22. Jackie says:

Well, Angel…looks like you knew what I needed at this time of melt-down in my life! You are definitely a sweetheart for publishing this post! I probably won’t be taking dancing lessons but I AM going to start a Pilates class the first of March. Thanks for the inspiration…

  23. HannahJ says:

Wow! I’ve just started informal lessons (though I’m nowhere near her age) so I’ll be at least halfway up to her caliber by the time my 80th rolls around. :)
