Shaun Smith: Britain’s Got Talent
Press PLAY sweet friends.
And I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know..that this boy’s got talent!
Is that not remarkably mature singing for a 17 year old?
“Ain’t No Sunshine”: Classic song by Bill Withers.
Ain’t No Sunshine is ranked as the 280th spot on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Songs.
Withers: “I was watching a movie called Days Of Wine And Roses (1962) with Lee Remick and Jack Lemmon. They were both alcoholics who were alternately weak and strong. It’s like going back for seconds on rat poison. Sometimes you miss things that weren’t particularly good for you. It’s just something that crossed my mind from watching that movie, and probably something else that happened in my life that I’m not aware of.”
SongFacts
This was Withers’ first hit. After spending 9 years in the US Navy, he had a job at a factory making parts for airplanes when he was introduced to Booker T. Jones from Booker T. & the MG’s. Booker was an elite session musician with Stax Records, where Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett and many other Soul legends recorded. He brought in some other top-notch musicians, including Stephen Stills on lead guitar, and produced this album for Withers, who was 32 when it was recorded.
Bill Withers: 9 years in the United States Navy. Sweet.
Fabulous song choice Shaun.
An A level student and accomplished rugby player.
His mum can sure be proud.
Not bad mum. Not bad at all.

Nice one Angel.
Did you hear Susan Boyle’s latest one, she’s really taken that nation by storm. The haters be damned.

One of my favorite songs and he did a great job. Got to hear it twice on idol by Kris Allen also. I didn’t know the Bill Withers story.

I thought Shaun’s voice was beautiful, & definitely much better than Chris Allen’s! Chris Allen’s performance of “Aint No Sunshine” couldn’t compare to Shaun’s.

I am writing from USA. I first became aware of Britains Got Talent from wonderful Susan Boyle.
I began watching other performers on the web site and was absolutely blown away by the talent of young Shaun Smith! He is an incredible performer! He far exceeds Kris Allen for his voice and star quality! I know one day I will be buying his records and going to see him in concert. Hear me Simon? We want to see Shaun Smith in America!!!!
