Smoothies: YuM
Smoooooooooooothies.
Yum.
I don’t know bout y’all but I sure could use some comfort food these days.
Gitcher blender and lets git goin.
Orange/Banana/Strawberry Oh My:
1/2 cup orange juice, chilled
3/4 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
1 banana, sliced
Simple Directions:
Grab your blender, (gently..Heh)
Toss it orange juice, strawberries, and banana.
Blend until mixture is nice and smooth.
Pour into a purdy tall glass….and drink.
Strawberry/Cranberry Burst:
1/4 cup cranberry juice cocktail
1 container low-fat strawberry yogurt
1 cup frozen strawberries
Simple Directions:
Blend: cranberry juice, yogurt, and strawberries.
Blend until mixture is smooth and frothy. Yup..frothy.
Pour into your favorite glass….Drink up.
Cheers.
Banana/Chocolate. Uh huh.
1 regular or frozen banana, sliced
3/4 cup milk
3 tablespoons of yer favorite chocolate syrup
4 ice cubes
Simple Directions:
Blend banana, milk, your chocolate syrup, and ice until your mixture is smooth and frothy.
Pour ..and gulp!
Smoothies can be chock full of a healthy dose of vitamins, antioxidants and fortified with minerals, amino acids by tossing in some protein powder, ginseng or additional supplements.
Don’t get enough fruits or veggies?
Have a smoothie.
On the run alot?
In the Summer, they can be your main source of fruit.
Buy yerself a few bags of frozen blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries and pineapple. Peel and freeze clementines and bananas so you can be smoothie-ready at a moment’s notice!
Want it richer?
Substitute plain nonfat yogurt instead of or in addition to nonfat milk.
For the coffee lovers..mmmmmmmmm.
Cappuccino Smoothie:
1 cup low-fat milk
1 tablespoon chocolate syrup
1 teaspoon instant espresso-coffee powder
2 ice cubes
Sugar
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Easy shmeasy Directions:
Blend milk, chocolate syrup, espresso powder, and ice.
Add sugar to taste. I like it real sweet~!
Sprinkle with cinnamon. Walah!
Not countin calories?
Heck..Blend ice cream sandwiches with peanut butter. At least there’s the vitamin E and protein from the peanut butter. Heh.

I’ve never made a smoothie, although in the back of my closet is one of those smoothie makers that a local bank was giving out to new customers a few years ago.
Maybe I can find that smoothie maker and make something scrumptious this summer.

SUPER YUM, the summer is the season for smoothies.

I was going to suggest chocolate banana, but I see you included it. YUMYUM
I used to buy soy protein powder and buy Slim Fast chocolate power drink mix, mix some of both of those, the banana, a couple ice cubes, turn the blender on and it’s magic. So good tasting and so good for you.

i’ll have to share your recipes with our little “smoothie prince” – nancson – he’ll put ANYTHING into his smoothie machine – sometimes he regrets some of the ingredients, but will try just about anything ONCE!
