Happy Father’s Day to all my sweet friends!

Fathers:
He didn’t tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.
Clarence Budington Kelland

A father carries pictures where his money used to be.

When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years.
Mark Twain

Spread the diaper in the position of the diamond with you at bat. Then fold second base down to home and set the baby on the pitcher’s mound. Put first base and third together, bring up home plate and pin the three together. Of course, in case of rain, you gotta call the game and start all over again.
Jimmy Piersal, on how to diaper a baby, 1968

Never raise your hand to your kids. It leaves your groin unprotected.

I miss my Dad every day, but especially on Father’s Day. Mom passed away about 10 years earlier, and having Dad “to myself” allowed me to know him in a way I’d never have if he had passed first.

Here’s an irony: this year Dad’s 95th birthday would have been the day after Father’s Day. Of course, some years his birthday and Father’s Day were the same exact day.

Dad passed away in 1998, at the age of 86. He was out shopping for groceries on a Tuesday and passed away on Saturday night. God was good–no suffering and no prolonged time in the bed.

Of course, God is ALWAYS good, but we might not realize it at the time.

My dad passed away in Aug of ‘95, two weeks shot of his 88th birthday. He surcame to cancer of the bones. Cancer of the bones is said to be most painful, however, Dad didn’t experience any pain. God is indeed amazing.

I learned a lot from my dad, and am still learning today. His lessons have certainly been far reaching and most appropriate.

I have two daughters and they each have presented me with a beautiful granddaughter. I can only hope the memories I leave will be as endearing as those I have.

God bless all you fathers and all you children who have only memories this Father’s Day.
