Halloween season offers a mixure of what some see as innocent fun– to unabashed, sublimated or even outright violence.

Look around Y’all.
Skulls are now everywhere.

Are they sinister?
Are they sobering, or are they just cheeky and cute?

Do we laugh at them and merely associate them with the “Pirate culture” or perhaps 16th century art, which portrayed them readily?

Do we acknowledge the symbolism of bravado in the face of death which has made the skull popular among fighting units around the world?

Menacing or chic and cute?

What say Y’all?

Proof of our society’s decline is that Halloween has become a broad daylight event for many.
Robert Kirby

Look, there’s no metaphysics on earth like chocolates.

Beware of “friends” or strangers bearing tools the likes of chainsaws, staple guns, , electric carving knives, hedge trimmers, lawnmowers, butane torches, soldering irons, or um… band saws. Make that a double beware if they are wearing a hockey mask or one made of human skin.

Have a BOOtiful Halloween sweet friends!

My wife would agree that skulls are sinister and that the prominence of Halloween is another sign of cultural decadence and decline. Me? I don’t really care. It’s a chance to watch “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” and “Monster House” with the kids.

If you celebrated Halloween, I hope you enjoyed your day. If not, I understand why and still hope you enjoyed your day just as I hope you enjoy everyday. Giventhe rise of atheism and witchcraft (which I Nsee as not a good thing), I choose not to celebrate Halloween but I do eat candy. Yesterday i had real caocao (pure chocolate plant)

I’ve always enjoyed Halloween. Somehow, I don’t find the scary images scary at all — perhaps because I started reading Edgar Allan Poe at the age of 10.

  11. MK says:

Nice one Angel. Love the finger food one. :)

  12. RaDena says:

I don’t like Candy, Angel, so as a child when I went trick or treating, I gave my candy away… except for the chocolate, of course, but I never got much of that! It’s a good thing I’ve never liked candy because I’ve always had trouble with my teeth. Probably would have lost all of them before the age of 20 if I had loved candy like all of my friends!

Hope you had a wonderful Halloween! :)

  13. Andrew33 says:

You can see by my spelling on halloween what real cacao does to you. It is smoothly intoxicating.

  14. EDGE says:

Don’t eat too much candy, Angel! :)

  15. Seane-Anna says:

Hey Angel! I spent my Halloween watching six hours of “Night of the Living Dead”. LOVED IT!!!!! Hope your witchy night was great. And I love the quote from Twain; it’s sooooooo true!

  16. Debbie says:

Our grandson at age 10 – 11 went through a phase where he wanted t-shirts, sweats etc. with nothing but ugly skulls on them. He is a good kid, good in school, smart, never got into any trouble of any kind. I thought his mother should stop this, but she let him continue. By the time he was 12 he had grown out of it and didn’t want any designs on his clothes, other than skate board logos. Kids go through these phases, most times it means nothing. He makes straight A’s and is a model child.

  17. nancz says:

As Christians, our family can no longer pretend a holiday such as halloween does anything but undermine the message of our Lord. Watcher had a couple of excellent posts up on paganism. We must be reminded to “have you NO idols” – pretty explicit.

  18. Pasadena Closet Conservative says:

When I was a kid in the 1950s and 1960s, Halloween was a chance to put on a whimsical costume and have some wholesome fun at a school carnival. Now kids dress in costumes that are either very dark/evil in theme or, in the case of young girls, make them look like prostitutes. Enough already!
