Haiti Earthquake

Amid the tragedy and devastation encompassing the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince since Tuesday’s 7.0-magnitude earthquake,a happy event took place Sunday
Doctor Shir Dar, who works at Hadassah Ein-Karem, delivered the first healthy baby in the Israeli hospital. The mother told Dar that she would name her son Israel. “Amid all the death around us,” the doctor said, “it is very symbolic.” He said that childbirth in impoverished Haiti doesn’t normally take place in hospitals, and that this particular woman received the best care from the best doctors.
Life amid death: Baby born in Israeli field hospital in Haiti
There is no time to pay respect to the dead, there are simply too many. There are some supplies - fly-infested chicken carcasses, water, charcoal - to be found on sale in the devastated streets. A few clothing stalls have even reopened, surrounded by cadavers laid out under sheets. Passersby clutch whatever few objects they could salvage; girls in crumpled miniskirts mingle with old men shouting at the sky to Jesus.
No one pauses beside the bodies, heaped like refuse on the sidewalk, waiting to be scooped up by heavy vehicles and driven to one of four huge pits around the city, where they are cremated. A family, among the few to have identified one of thousands of corpses, transports a coffin perched precariously atop a taxi.
Israel continues to lend a hand and heart.

The benevolent United States continues to aid Haiti.
Haiti earthquake :U.S. Helps
A baby girl who suffered multiple injuries, including a broken rib, in the Haiti earthquake has been flown to a Miami, Florida, hospital and is being treated in an intensive care unit.

Members of the US Armed Forces and reserve medical personnel are replacing those deployed on the U.S. Naval hospital ship Comfort, and plan to arrive at Haiti later this week.
A U.S. Coast Guard unit will help provide port security.
And while looters ransack their own Nation and entertainers steal money from the alleged “charities” they represent…Israelis and Americans continue to shine………..

A helicopter crew aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Tahoma assisted in the delivery of a Haitian newborn on the cutter on Saturday.
Anybody hear about Yemen, Somalia or the Saaawdi Kingdom digging Haitians out of ditches yet?
I didn’t think so.
Keep praying sweet friends.

Are the response to these horrors not the perfect mirror into what is inside a Nation or Peoples soul?
God bless the U.S. of A. and Israel.

But, but, but, the Israelis are evil! I’m confused… It’s all the fault of the JOOOOOOOOOOOOS! and Boooooooooosh!

Fantastic post, Angel. I loved the story about little Israel.
P.S. And what a class act George W Bush is - responding to Obama’s call for assistance after Obama has trashed him without mercy.

I think Bush goes beyond what he ought to…….after the incredible TRASHING of him Obama and his thugs are constantly doing, there he is standing by THE ONE …. I don’t think THE ONE deserves it, frankly.
Go ahead and help Haitians, but don’t give Obama a photo op….Obama can’t shine Bush’s shoes (oh, man, don’t anybody think I’m being racist here..I didn’t think of SHOE SHINE’s implications before I typed it and damn if I’m changing it now as if I’m some cowardly racist scum)…anyway, Obama doesn’t DESERVE to have Bush standing next to him and I”m not even a huge Bush fan on every topic!!
New babies among the rubble…God’s way of saying LIFE GOES ON…beautiful.
And, no…I’m REALLY sure I have yet to see the Saudis pony up to help ANYBODY. EVER. W#O$(&#@$@*(#$*(#@&

Awww, you can always get my attention with a newborn story. I love the miracle of birth. So awful that so many lives are lost in Haiti. I pray for them.

Great post Angel! Israel has no real connection to Haiti politically, religious or geographically and yet their was no hesitation whatsoever to jumo in and help. Compare that to Saudi Arabia with all their wealth,,,just a statement od condolences ? Telling, very telling I say.

Leave it to us and the small country of Israel, who despite its size and its own troubles never ceases to help.

I saw the newscast about the Israeli search-and-rescue team. It was very inspiring.

Sweet story about the baby in the Israeli field hospital. I can’t imagine the weight on the shoulder of those trying to save the lives of the Haitians. While they risk disease and who knows what else, they are willing to give all it is possible to give. This reminds me of those working at the Trade Centers, day after day, hour after hour, and you were one of those, Angel.

Excellent observations. The countries that are the first to give aid are always the first to be villified. I guess it is along the lines of no good deed going unpunished.
